Failure to launch

About half the time when doing cat launches everything goes as expected. The other half of the time the cat doesn't actually fire and my Hornet remains stationary with the ABs roaring away.

 

 

Up to the point the AB's ignite everything appears to be the same (although I must be missing something):

I line up to the cat

drop the launch bar

press U to connect to the cat

Hornet moves a little as the connection is made

 

get the all clear from the Tower

put the Throttles to max

wait for the ABs to light off

and then...either I launch or am stationary with ABs on

 

 

 

Is there a knack to lining up on the cat? because that's the only spot in the process I can think of that there could be some variance

Can you verify, that you do not have any axis conflicts associated with the throttle.

 

 

I know you can push the engines up to a certain point and it will not launch unless they are at full.

Sometimes I notice the line-up before hooking up can be funky, like the aircraft sort of 'bounces' while it shuffles into position. I find that if the shuffling continues, the hookup isn't considered complete. In that case, I would recommend unhooking from the catapult and try the hookup again.

Are you verifying the jet blast deflectors raise behind the aircraft after pressing U?
