I did some playing in some games yesterday and played around in steam VR settings, then went back into DCS and found I was getting some unusual stuttering so I tried to track it down:

I had set Steam Video to be 150% (my recommended number is 164% for my GPU) and I had pretty diligently set DCS.exe to be 66% (of the maximum) which was as close as I could get to my original... but in DCS I was getting some stutters...

I flipped it back to 100% in Steam Video and 100% for applications and the stutter was gone...

anyway YMMV... have fun fly; stutter free, or gonk-bag handy ;)

I never got away from stutter until I went to 100 across the board. I also found that having V-sync/G-sync enabled seriously hurt my performance. Of course that seems par for the course in VR: One guy says do this and don't do that and it will work great and the next guy says you have to do the exact opposite. It's kind of frustrating that there isn't much of a "known working" methodology but I suppose that's part of being early to the show.

agreed, I think you just have to experiment... its certainly not a plug and play tech at this stage, or rather, if you are on my level of hardware you have to do some work to dial your rig in, especially true of DCS...

That's really weird.

It makes no logical sense to have better performance with higher supersampling (higher resolution).

at this rate, I wont rule out a freak weather balloon causing issues... not sacrificing chickens on the back of the mother board to improve perf... That said, I have for some time had a niggling doubt about lots of AA/SS taking place in different places having maybe differing kinds of interactions...
