viper2097 Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 Here are some Infos regarding the F-14 and SRS summed up. I hope they help you, I had to find them out on my own... The F-14 has SRS "integrated", this means, that when you are useing SRS, you can't use your normal set up Hotkeys in the SRS application. As example: You have selected "1" as UHF1 and "2" as UHF2 in the module. Further you have set "3" as UHF1" and "4" as UHF2 in SRS. In all (?) other modules, you can use 1&2 to communicate with the game and 3&4 to communicate in SRS. This will not work in the F14. In the F14, you will communicate with the game & SRS when pressing 1 or 2. 3 & 4 does not work. On the one side this is cool and can be even more cutomized with the "special" tab for the F14 in DCS, on the other hand maybe not everyone likes that. To get rid of this behavor, you need to go to the settings in SRS and set "Always allow SRS hotkeys" to on. Then you are still transmitting when pressing 1&2, but you are also transmitting when pressing 3&4. Whats the advantage? The com menu does not appear when you are useing SRS, but you have not to change anything so that the com menu still works as it should. The ICS Hot Mic switch in DCS will also change your SRS mic to hot. Not only for the ICS, also for UHF1/2. (Not sure if this is a bug or as it should be, I think its still a bug). So you keep transmitting on the last radio channel (ICS, UHF1 or UHF2) you have last selected with the swith on your throttle. Personaly, I would stay with a cold mic even on ICS in multiplayer if I don't know my RIO, but however, if you would like to use a hot mic, remember that it also turns the radio to hot. (So immediately select ICS gain after talking on UHF1/2.) Hope this helps some people, as I needed some time to figer out and blocked the COM on the hoggit server for a few mintues ;). Steam user - Youtube I am for quality over quantity in DCS modules
Nealius Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 I'm still a bit confused by the SRS integration, mainly on two things: 1. Do we now need to have 4 keybinds for comms? Two for game comms and two for SRS? 3. How does SRS handle talking to your RIO/Pilot?
QuiGon Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 (edited) I'm still a bit confused by the SRS integration, mainly on two things: 1. Do we now need to have 4 keybinds for comms? Two for game comms and two for SRS? 3. How does SRS handle talking to your RIO/Pilot? 1. No, you only need the ingame keybinds. That's the 4 way comms switch on the pilots throttle (ICS, Radio 1, Radio 2, Both) and the 2 comm pedals for the RIO pit (ICS, Radio). You don't have to map anything in SRS itself. That's only for some other aircraft that are not supported with their native comm keybinds by SRS or don't even have their own comm keybinds (FC3). 3. Just like the real Tomcat: You either use the Cold Mic mode meaning you will have to press the ICS button/pedal to talk to the other crewmember or you switch to hot mic which allows you to talk to the other crewmember without pressing anything. Since the most recent update you should also be able to just yell to the other crewmember and he should hear you through the pit (if you yell loud enough). I personally haven't tested the yelling yet, but the rest works great. Greyhound11 Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 (edited) And then there is VAICOM PRO I am still feeling out as well, but I haven't been flying MP as much lately. But here's the dream: my understanding is, if using VAICOM PRO and SRS, with ez comms off, I think it goes like this? say I want my warthog pov hat down set for VHF: -I set pov down for the corresponding TX PTT in VAICOM PRO (and I have ownship voice and menus set off) -I set pov down for VHF in SRS -I DO NOT set pov down for any DCS comms function and when I press it and my VHF freq is set correctly, theoretically, I can say "ATC, inbound" and no menu will pop up, no ownship voice will be heard, DCS will answer me and configure ATC for inboud, and all my friends on SRS will here my voice and the ATC response. right? QuiGon Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 I have no experience with VAICOM, sorry :dunno: Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
