Hello a have testet with a clean f14 in 37 000 feet in winter. The plane goin mutch faster to mach 2.3 as in summer on same feet and clean loadout. Yes for the engine its better cooling air. In summer hang on the plane at mach 1.2 -1.4 before going more... i say to long. Its working the inlet ramps bugfree at the moment ? Or more fine tune in future ?

The inlet ramps do indeed work, and they influence the amount and quality of airflow entering the engine among other things. We are matching level acceleration according to automated flight tests taken from the performance manual. Variances in OAT do affect the amount of power the engine can produce due to changing air density with temperature.

One thing I noticed when I did one of those "don't try this at home, kids" things: I flicked the ramp switch from Auto to Stow and back at M somewhere 1.8-2ish. This immediately made the engine choke (thought it would take at least a second or so, but well, that depends on how quickly they move) and when I put it back, the engine kept running, but I roughly had twice buffeting I'd have at fifty units of AoA and it just didn't stop...

You probably induced supersonic inlet buzz, try going subsonic to clear it. General rule of thumb when having engine trouble is to slow down to subsonic speeds/take the engine out of AB, and then try to assess the situation.

The plane just slowed down even in full AB, but eventually when coming down to transsonic speeds, at around 1.25 - 1.3, the left wing wanted to live it's own life and Jester thought we've been hit by something after he's keeping calling singers at 3 o'clock that should just have been dirt calls rdlaugh.png
