No, unless you uninstall the maps.

Updating updates all modules you have installed. If you temporarily move the maps the updater will just download all the missing files in addition to the ones affected by the update.

would this work? if i moved the maps to another location then tried to update it, or would it just download the maps too?

It would just download the entire maps then, because it detects them as missing files.

I think you can disable modules, and presumably maps, in the Module Manager at the top of the DCS start screen. I did this with the WWII Assets Pack because I just don’t use them and they were cluttering up the Mission Editor. Whether or not updates are still downloaded for disabled modules I don’t know.

Yes, that's what I said in my very first response in this thread:

No, unless you uninstall the maps.

But if I understand correctly, the OP wants to keep using the maps without updating them. That is not possible, unless he stops updating DCS completely.

Maps don't always get updates every patch, at least for the large files. Though they are more likely to see updates at a higher rate in the months after release. Once a map is at least a year old the frequency of updates for the map slows down considerably. Can and does happen obviously, but its not every or every other patch like it is in the months after it gets released.

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.

I went and bought a 55gb mobile broadband prepaid sim for 20 bucks, now I can update everything. I checked the other day to see how big it is from 2.5 to 2.5.4 its over 24gb. Now I can update it.

Thanks
