T-16000M stick twisting motion and rudders in cockpit view

Hi guys,

 

Newbie here. Got the Hornet and I'm going through the training sessions. Freakin' awesome experience with vive Pro!

 

I don't know much about planes yet. I noticed that if I twist the stick left or right, the pedals will flip up or down, as compared to the paddle on my throttle, which pushes the rudder pedals back and forth.

 

I know what pushing the rudder pedals back and forth does on the ground and in the air, but what does flipping the rudder pedals up or down do?

Both at the same time? You're probably talking about toe brakes.

Step one since you can afford a vive pro is to get seperate rudder pedals and maybe a Hotas!

That are the toe brakes. You can apply brake to left or right main wheel, in the real plane.

If you switch to the controls setuo, select axis and twitch the stick, you can see what axis it is bound to.

My guess is "Wheelbrakes both".

Oh and if it is. You do not want to have a centering axis bound to wheelbrakes, as it means centered results in brakes 50% engaged, which is bad when starting or landing. ;)

I do have the HOTAS and I was thinking of getting rudder pedals but I also sim race and don't want to have to switch pedals all the time. Might eventually get some anyway. :)

Makes sense. Ok, I'll probably assign wheelbrakes to another analog button for now. Thanks for the info!

Some racing pedals can be combined to one axis via software (?) which makes a poor man's rudder. If not, you could use the pedals as left and right wheelbrake axis. Though you need to stick with the HOTAS paddle levers as rudder axis.
