kenpoh Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 Hi im on Aim120 AA training mission and was following the tutorial and found that my radar has no target display to lock on , any ideal ?
Dun_Aenghus Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 Did you switch to air-to-air mode, make your radar sensor of interest? Adjust your scan zones? Usually, you cannot move the cursor around the screen unless you hit A/A mode on the left side of the cockpit. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
derammo Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 I am sorry I did not look at the practice mission, as I am away from DCS. So these are just general comments regarding F/A-18C AA radar use "Active Pause" to play with it, in case you aren't already, so your plane stops moving while you fiddle with these settings for the first time like Dun_Aenghus said, click AA on the left side of the cockpit alternatively, it should select AA automatically if you select the AIM-120 as a weapon and set the radar to 40 miles make sure Radar is active (there is a turning knob on the right panel, OPER being the active settings) make sure you know your practice target range, so you can make sure the radar display range includes it - if it does not, use the up and down arrow buttons (right side DDI soft buttons in the top right corner) to change the range make sure you know your practice target altitude, so you can then make sure that the min/max altitude on the little yellow designator bracket includes that altitude - if it does not, then you need to read about the different "bars" modes and radar elevation angle controls, but it is easier to just start in a mission where you are at the same altitude and you are in active pause mode

yaoja123 Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 Have you solved the problem because I have the same issue
Sandman1330 Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 Try switching to guns mode, then back to AIM. There’s a long standing bug where during airstart the radar doesn’t pick anything up. You can tell it’s present because the option to select PRF on the left will be gone. Switching to guns and back usually fixes it, you may have to do it a couple times. yaoja123 Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 Sorry,I tried few times but it still didn't work. Any clue how to fix it in other ways?
davebert Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 One of the guys I fly with said the radar was not picking up targets like it used to. I tried and I think he is correct. It seems to be glitchy. Once you see the targets they will disappear for no apparent reason. You can see the targets on the F10 map right in front of you but the radar doesn't see them no matter what range you set it at. Then you will see 3 targets (or however many are really there), then they will disappear.
