franx Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 Is the TM Cougar MFD worth buying? How do most players use them? Specific example would be really helpful. aka MadMonk; Windows 10, 64 bit, Radeon 6800XT gpu, Ryzen 5 5600 cpu, 32 gig ram; Samsung 2TB EVO SSD, Thrustmaster Warthog throttle and stick, Saitek combat rudder pedals; Oculus Rift.

Svsmokey Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 A lot of guys use them as stand-alone controllers that add a bit of panache to their pit . The pit-builders use them with monitors behind them for realistic operation , and VR guys use them as stand-alones for increased immersion . 9700k @ stock , Aorus Pro Z390 wifi , 32gb 3200 mhz CL16 , 1tb EVO 970 , MSI RX 6800XT Gaming X TRIO , Seasonic Prime 850w Gold , Coolermaster H500m , Noctua NH-D15S , CH Pro throttle and T50CM2/WarBrD base on Foxxmounts , CH pedals , Reverb G2v2

Home Fries Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 They're quite useful with the A-10C, F/A-18, and AV-8B. Additionally, you can program them with TARGET to do other things, which can be especially useful if you also use a TM HOTAS. -Home Fries My DCS Files and Skins My DCS TARGET Profile for Cougar or Warthog and MFDs F-14B LANTIRN Guide
Stewmanji Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 Jumping in late to this conversation, but what do folks think about this LCD screen as a possible option for using behind 3 Cougar MFDS? https://www.ebay.com/itm/VGA-LCD-Controller-Board14-9inch-1280x390-LCD-Screen-LTA149B780F/202510328843?epid=27026203405&hash=item2f268e640b:g:vAgAAOSwvcFb9X7d Based on my measurements, you should be able to perfectly place 3 MFDs side by side using this monitor. The only point of hesitation on my part is the resolution. What do folks think about that limited 390 pixel resolution vertically? I don't know enough to predict if there would be any issues with image quality as compared to using smaller panels that would only fit 1-2 MFDs but which would have much higher resolutions (i.e. 1920 x 1080 or 1024 x 768.
