I have Chaparral and Vulcan units set up together as they should be and when aircraft fly over head they do not track or fire. I have put a MiG 15 at 2000 ft and a MiG 19 at 6000 and fly them right over the units with no results. Settings on units are EPLRS (on), ALARM STATE (auto) and ROE (weapons free). Enemy Air defences consist of Flak 36 and ZU-23 enclosed and they work fine against U.S. aircraft without any other settings, but EPLRS (on).

This would be much easier if you shared your mission with us.

My very first guess is that the aircraft belong to the same coalition as the air defense units.

All you have to do is ask for it !

Wrong guess !

Guessing works much better with some data to back it up. ;)

Time of day, apparently. Push the same mission later in the day and the air defenses do seem to work, at least the Chaparal.

The Vulcan and Bofors never engaged in my test runs, but the MiG-15 and MiG-19 did make a point of flying high, so I'm guessing they were too fast and/or too high for the guns.

That sounds reasonable, being they are all visually aimed without the aid of electronics. I will give this a try, thanks. Would the direction the are facing be a factor also ?

Might be; with low and fast approaching fighters, they don't have much time to aim, and it's probably going to help if they already point in the right direction, at least a little.
