-Ice Posted May 18, 2019 Posted May 18, 2019 I got 3x 1920x1080 monitors with a combined, bezel-corrected resolution of 5896x1080. I would like to be able to zoom out a bit more in certain cockpits. For example, I like the FOV when in single monitor setup in the A-10C. When going to my multi-monitor setup, my FOV is zoomed slightly more closer to the HUD. Now in the single monitor setup, I can zoom out more but in the multi-monitor setup, I can't. How can I enable a bigger FOV for the multi-monitor setup? BTW, I'm not looking to make a 3-camera setup, just 1-camera but bigger FOV. Any help appreciated! Thanks! - Ice
Rebel28 Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 You will find your answer in this thread. Make sure to read the entire thread and make a copy of the original file and your change file. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=201471 Updates will set it back to default setting. Changing this file will not pass integrity check in multi servers online that require the check.
-Ice Posted May 21, 2019 Author Posted May 21, 2019 Read that thread and no joy. I've tried bumping it up to silly numbers like 180 or 200. I've changed the numbers in SnapViews.lua in the \Users\username\Saved Games\DCS\Config\View folder, changed the numbers in SnapViewsDefault.lua in the \DCS World\Config\View folder, and even set UseDefaultSnapViews = false (default true) in View.lua in \DCS World\Config\View folder. - Ice
-Ice Posted May 21, 2019 Author Posted May 21, 2019 Top picture is the max zoom out on 1920x1080 resolution, bottom picture is max zoom out on 5896x1080 resolution. I would like to adjust the FOV to be between halfway of the top and bottom pics, but I seem to be hitting a hard limit on the FOV number that I can put in, raising the number does no effect. - Ice
Coug4r Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 (edited) You can also try set a FOV in the viewport config in your monitor setup file. 1.0 is the default value >1.0 is FOV+/zoom out <1.0 is FOV-/zoom in This is what i'm using atm: Viewports = { Center = { x = 1080-250; y = 0; width = 2560+500; height = 1440; FOV = 1.30; aspect = 2.1944444444444444; }, } Edited May 29, 2019 by Coug4r - If man were meant to fly he'd be filled with helium.
-Ice Posted June 5, 2019 Author Posted June 5, 2019 Thanks for that Coug4r, however, that only sets the default zoom, ie, what your zoom is when you press the NUM ENTER button. The max zoom out is still the same. - Ice
laertesson Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 (edited) all 3-monitor users who use the 1 monitor setting probably cant adjust fov now. Used to work. Edited June 7, 2019 by laertesson
-Ice Posted June 19, 2019 Author Posted June 19, 2019 all 3-monitor users who use the 1 monitor setting probably cant adjust fov now. Used to work. Really? How long ago did it "used to work"? Haven't played for years but I don't think I managed with this FOV back in the day when I was playing DCS A10C. :( - Ice
Hunter_5E Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 (edited) Been a few months since anyone posted here so not sure if people still struggling with this. If you are however, here is how I managed to effectively move my viewpoint back in cockpit. I fly KA-50 on triple screens (1 camera) with res of 5940 x 1080 The file to edit is:- C:\Users\YourUserName\SavedGames\DCS\Config\View\Server.lua If the Config\View folder does not exist in SavedGames\DCS create a Config folder and copy your View folder into it from DCS World\Config, then edit the Server.lua file in there. I edited the value for "CameraViewAngleLimits". Was 20, 120. Now 20, 135. Works a treat. ViewSettings["Ka-50"] = { Cockpit = { [1] = {-- player slot 1 CockpitLocalPoint = {3.188000,0.390000,0.000000}, CameraViewAngleLimits = {20.000000,135.000000}, CameraAngleRestriction = {false,60.000000,0.400000}, CameraAngleLimits = {140.000000,-65.000000,90.000000}, EyePoint = {0.090000,0.000000,0.000000}, limits_6DOF = {x = {-0.020000,0.350000},y ={-0.150000,0.165000},z = {-0.170000,0.170000},roll = 90.000000}, }, }, -- Cockpit Chase = { LocalPoint = {-0.512000,2.790000,0.000000}, AnglesDefault = {180.000000,-8.000000}, }, -- Chase Arcade = { LocalPoint = {-16.812000,5.390000,0.000000}, AnglesDefault = {0.000000,-8.000000}, }, -- Arcade NOTE: If you encounter a mission that overrides your custom view, read the following - posted under comments section for Operation Snowfox v120 by Surrexen in DCS user files:- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hunter_5E 12/15/2019 16:27:00 For some reason this mission overrides my custom "CameraViewAngleLimits" setting (for KA-50) in Config/View/Server.lua. I run triple monitors and this forces me into a view that is too far forward for my liking. I've searched for quite a while to find a solution but to no avail. Some missions don't upset my custom view settings and some do, like this one. Can anyone offer a solution to this as its rather annoying and to be honest its stopping me from flying any missions that override my settings. Link Surrexen 12/15/2019 20:18:14 Rename the mission file to a .zip file and open it up in winzip/winrar or whatever. Go into the config\view folder and try either removing the server.lua file or editing the server.lua file to have the view settings you want and then rename back to a .miz Hopefully that will sort it out for you. Parent Link Hunter_5E 12/16/2019 11:47:29 I removed the entire Config folder - as there was only "View" folder in there anyway - and that did the trick. Many thanks for your help. I would suggest however that you might want to remove that from any missions yourself before posting them - same goes for all mission makers tbh. Your fix is fine if I play solo or host the mission myself but if I enter a server online with your original mission file I'm stuck with default view, as will anyone else with custom views. There's no need for that Config/View folder in the mission anyway and I assume it's the editor that sticks it in by default? Surrexen 12/16/2019 22:25:46 Very interesting, I don't even remember putting it in there but I've been working on this thing for ages so who knows. Anyway, will investigate this for next version etc. Thanks for letting me know! ------------------------------------------------- Edited December 17, 2019 by Hunter_5E
emc Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 Hi, I move form single screen to triple 3x27"" 2560x1440. And of course I have FOV issue with one huge 1camera view - "to close to HUD or massive distortion of sideviews" Last night I got idea, but I decide to ask if anybody. So did anyone try run DCS with 3 portraits displays so instead of 7680x1440 do 4320x2560 So yo can get extra vertical space and better aspect for portraits 13.5:8 (close to 16:9) then 16:3 for landscapes. Of coures you got 2 monitors' frames closer together, so thats way I'm asking beforem move all my screens and cables sideways....
