which bombs are best for making a runway unusable ?

For AI? Almost anything will do — as long as it does damage to the runway, the ATC will consider it broken and will not accept any incoming traffic, thereby stopping any AI units on the ground and diverting any incoming aircraft to alternate airports.

 

For players? Pretty much nothing since they can and will just ignore the ATC and can drive around (and often just straight over) any of the damage spots without any ill effects.

 

Supposedly, there is a mechanic that determines repair times where different bombs will set different timers, but I have never seen any definite data on the matter. One would assume that runway-defeating bombs like the Belouga or BetAB ShP generates longer repair times, but without an official word it's really anyone's guess.

Thanx for the reply.This is exactly what I discovered.

Maybe sometimes later it will Players stop too using the damaged runway.

A Mk 84 or GBU-31 will make life miserable for a player, if the player drives trough the crater at relative high speed.

I would drop either on a given runway, and then land on it. As soon as I ran over the crater, my plane would explode. That was F-14, F-18 and F-5's I tried with.

Runway damage doesn't mean anything to players. It's only client side and all you need to do is disconnect from the server and reconnect, then the runway is fine.

Oh, well that limitation sucks. Yea those buildings, bridges, railways, rail yards, runways, shelters, ME placed statics, all need a status that can be stored. Would open so many possibilities for mission builders, especially for multiplayer.

several GBU-31s will make landing nigh impossible and when a plane crashes it'll make more debris to clog the runway.
