Bananimal Posted May 27, 2019 Posted May 27, 2019 I've made some changes to the intake sounds and a few other adjustments. Not all problems with the original sounds have been addressed in this mod. Namely because I am not a seasoned sound modder. But, it should get us by until HB or someone else makes adjustments to the original sounds. JagHond Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Sounds good now... literally! Thanks for sharing. With best regards.
Nealius Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 Is there any way to boost the volume at distances? I noticed the sound mod is very quiet once you get further than a few hundred feet away, even at high engine RPM. Just for example, my video here showcases the sound mod very well, but for the overhead break and landing sequences I had to boost the audio by 8.0db in post to match the volume to the taxi/takeoff sequences. Bananimal Posted May 30, 2019 Author Posted May 30, 2019 That's going to happen when the camera is zoomed way in but is actually further away from the aircraft. ___________________________ Bananimal's DCS Mods and Skins
Nealius Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 Camera was roughly 800ft away during the overhead sequence (precisely at the break point). With the stock sounds I didn't need any audio boost during post when flying 1,000ft away from the camera, at the same speed/throttle setting, so there must be some value in the .lua that can be changed to boost the sound.
Bananimal Posted May 30, 2019 Author Posted May 30, 2019 It won't be in the lua file, it'll be in the sdef file. ___________________________ Bananimal's DCS Mods and Skins
I_Gamer Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 Issues like these mentioned are reasons why I haven't gone beyond 2-3 hours of initial work getting this to sound better - there are too many back end issues HB needs to address with the way the game handles the current sound files. Fortunately the base sound infrastructure on the FA-18 by ED was integrated a lot better, which paved a nice path for the overhaul I created - HB did not follow suit on this, which means making a proper overhaul is next to impossible. I made it sound better, but is far off from being a product where I feel it is to "Echo 19" standards. Hoping the Viper follows the same path the Hornet has been on (in terms of audio fidelity and infrastructure). Anyway, nice work Bananimal. A step in the right direction, for sure. Modders have a little bit more flexibility when it comes to content creation - as the community does not have to strictly abide by copyright free/royalty free material, whereas companies or 3rd parties (like HB) do have to abide by such standards and are more limited with what sources they are allowed to (legally) pull from. - - - - - - - - Tyler "Shadow" All things sound @ Echo 19 Audio linktr.ee/echo19audio
