Is there a Fresnel lens on top of the AMPCD?

Just watching this video, and it sure looks like there is a lens (Fresnel?) on top, or some filter at least. Does give me a strong Fresnel type lens vibe though.

Totally a Fresnel lens - good find. Might be useful in the cockpit to magnify the AMPCD's image to enhance readability I guess.

It's an older hornet. We called it "the fish bowl " This was pre color ddi when microfiche was used as the map data.

Cool thx. So it was to enlarge what was on there, and quite a bit, hence the 'fish bowl', cause you only had a very narrow viewing angle/area where it would be clear?

This is HI. It uses color microfilm maps. So this structure may be more readable.
