Gruman Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 (edited) Got my hornet stick in the mail this morning! For those of you living in Switzerland you can currently order the stick here: https://www.conrad.ch/de/p/thrustmaster-f-a-18c-hornet-hotas-add-on-grip-joystick-pc-1848899.html Thanks for the info. Digitec just listed it as well... but for 249 CHF... Let us know what you think. Just might pick it up next week. Do I see it correctly, that we are loosing a 4-way coolie hat and just get this wierd 2-way wheel? flywaldair (Skynet dev.) Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Do I see it correctly, that we are loosing a 4-way coolie hat and just get this wierd 2-way wheel? That's true but I never really used the third coolie hat. On the other hand we're gaining a Sensor Select Switch with a down button. As stated in the review the overall build quality is good and the buttons feel more refined than on the warthog. For all those flying the Hornet it is a super upgrade. I perfectly aligned it in VR, to enhance the immersion. It's rather creepy when you squint through the nose part of the VR googles and see half of the virtual stick and half of the real stick. Matrix style. If you can afford it go for it ;-) Skynet: an Integrated Air Defence System for DCS. Download here! Gruman Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Thanks for the offer. I would be close by (Bäretswil), but it wont be needed. Probably will purchase the grip next week anyway. jameslockridge Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 I got my grip yesterday it has now officially replaced my Virpil T-50CM2. It is connected to the Brunner base and for the first time makes that base come alive. After 1 or 2 hrs total flying time what I like the most is the weight of the grip, it feels very natural and meaty in my hand and it's the first grip that I don't feel like it is over sensitive. I'm still very much a beginner with DCS and the F-18. However it has already helped with my Air to Air refueling. My Banker score has improved by 20 points on a good trap (lets not talk about the other ones). How it really helped me is for the transition between the break turn and gear and flaps down and the dreaded trimming for flying on speed (my problem child). I'm away from it for the next week or so sadly.
Davee Posted November 23, 2019 Posted November 23, 2019 Thing is reviewers confuse the feel (heaviness) of buttons operation with quality. The internal switch used by Tm under buttons caps is doubtful that they are better than OMRON switches used by VKB (VPC, CH). Or the cases of Warthog buttons/switches "broken" would not happen. Just looking at the link, that switch just broke on my WH after years of use. I don't want to go through the process of ordering again from TM. But, now I'm thinking of buying the F-18 stick instead of going through replacing the button as the stick is old and I expect more buttons will break. Thanks for the link.
Dav IRL Posted November 24, 2019 Posted November 24, 2019 The hornet stick is awesome. I’m really impressed with it, love the sound the buttons make and the simple spaced out layout grows on me all the time. Its got a very clean feel to it and a touch lighter than its predecessor.
