Alphazulu Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Don't know if this is just not done or not planned but can someone tell us if the FW-190 A8s MG 131 are going to use the green tracers like all the other MG 131s in the game? It would be really nice to have a consistency in tracer color when trying to identify targets or friends. I brought this up, because I flew in "the other WW2 Sim" out there right now and all of the tracer colors are the same and it is really annoying and huge pain. This issue never existed in DCS WW2 until now, so it would be nice if it did not stay this way. Thanks,
JG13Wulf Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Look on the Fw 190D9 and Bf 109K4. They all switch to yellow.
ED Team NineLine Posted June 8, 2019 ED Team Posted June 8, 2019 (edited) Ok, well let's get this fixed and fixed right. Does anyone have any good, historical, sources for proper colours for ammo type, country, etc? Found this initially, will keep looking: Edited June 8, 2019 by NineLine Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
JG13Wulf Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 You have really good information by looking in Cliffs of Dover. As you can select your munition for your plane. As I remember of this game, it's similar to what is in those picture. But I'm looking after more informations. As I don't speak german, maybe look on http://www.luftarchiv.de/ There are lot of informations on Luftwaffe. I don't see a part about munitions but there are part dedicated to the armaments. Maybe someone who speak german can find something interresting.
Vatikus Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 MG/FF - yellow (late blue) MG151 - blue MG131 - blue MK108 - yellow MG17 - orange
JG13Wulf Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 It's more complex. There were more than one color for each gun. As I read (and it's correct in Cliffs of Dover), pilots can change color for the last bullet to have a visual warning there were low. They used for exemple 500 bullet with yellow color. Then 100 with the red one. But like gun convergence (hope to see it one day), it was possible for luftwaffe crew to have the ammo of their choice (not all the pilots could choice their ammo but it was common for aces). Gun convergence was a common modification for every pilot (but some squadron had preset for new pilots).
JG13Wulf Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 Here some informations that ca be usefull: http://simhq.net/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/1159231/What_tracer_colours_did_the_va.html And this post is a debate with some good informations too : https://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?t=46415
ED Team NineLine Posted June 8, 2019 ED Team Posted June 8, 2019 MG/FF - yellow (late blue) MG151 - blue MG131 - blue MK108 - yellow MG17 - orange I would need to see something to back that up, a lot of what I read as well was that the Germans used whatever was available, so you could end up seeing different colors based on that, not because they were intended to use a specific color, but just because its what they had.
