Hi all,

So I'm flying s simple Mk83 iron bomb mission with the Litening pod.

Bombing using CCIP but using the pod to highlight the targets on screen and lock on so I can circle and find the best angle and path of attack. Standard.

After dropping one bomb or even wishing to deselect the current target and change to another (tank to truck for example) in the same area I use as per the manual the AG undesignate button.

Issue: sometimes it does undesignate and other times it won't after multiple presses. Also whe you do press the undesignate button it automatically turns on the DMT and slaves the camera?

Is this correct?

I want to be able to drop a bomb then redesignate a new TPod target without activating the DMT and having to go back into the whole RMFD-TPOD-STBY-TDC.

Any help would be awesome thanks.

Matt

Don't you just slew the TP to another target? No need to 'un-designate'. Are you using the NWS button to un-designate, sounds like you might be using Sensor Select down.

Once I have something locked I have the same issue. It wont slew if its fixed on a target. I hit the NWS, most times it takes 2-4 hits, and it will undesignate. Sometimes it it stays on the TPOD and I can re slew to a new target. Sometimes it kicks me to the DMT. A lot of the time when using the TPOD if I’m tracking on a target, and the aircraft blocks the view of the target in a turn, it kicks back to the DMT. I have to go back to the TPOD, take it back off standby, and select TDC again. Gets frustrating.

Yeah if the TPOD is not automatically locking onto and area/point - when I manually designate it kicks back to the DMT - even when it is turned off. Have to reselect the TPOD on the MPCD - very annoying.

Also if you are lasing a target and you move the designator any amount it automatically drops any lock and stops firing the laser - which is also stupid as you can't fine-tune your aim slightly as your aspect changes and the bomb/mav is in flight. May be a RL limitation of that particular TPOD, but generally you can update the target spot and the laser keeps firing.

I know exactly what you're talking about. After you set the first point, avoid re-designating whenever possible and just slew the TPOD around to your next target.

That's the easiest way to deal with this issue, I've found.

Hope that helps.
