spacefox Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 (edited) Hi, I am 100% newbie to this sim (like 48 hours or so). I am trying to figure out on how to use mouse cursor in VR. I do see mouse support is enabled in VR settings of DCS. In the cockpit of the default trainer aircraft, I am unable to see the mouse cursor? does the mouse work on other aircraft or I have to remember all the keyboard commands to activate in VR. Any insights or tips appreciated. Thanks, -spacefox Specs: Specs: i7-5820K - 4.4 Ghz oc, 980 GTX, Rift CV-1 Edited June 30, 2019 by spacefox Specs: i7-5820K - 4.4 Ghz OC, 64GB Ram, RTX 2070 Super, Rift S
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted June 30, 2019 ED Team Posted June 30, 2019 Hi spacefox and welcome to DCSWorld. If you are using Flaming cliffs 3 the cockpits are not clickable. All other aircraft use clickable cockpit and the mouse option can be found in the VR settings tab in the main menu. hope that helps Forum rules - DCS Crashing? mxpower76 Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 The SU-25 that comes free is not clickable. But the free Mustang is. Switch to that one to get an idea of what it's like. I play in VR and use a trackball mouse. Works good. Ryzen 5800x|B550|32gb|EVGA RTX 3080 |Rift S|G2|VKB-GF3|Virpil CM3
spacefox Posted June 30, 2019 Author Posted June 30, 2019 Thanks for the feedback!!! I am also trying to figure out on what to buy for this sale. I am absolutely blown away by DCS VR performance. It is unreal!!! What is a good solid clickable addon jet for newbies - Does the addon jet have tutorials which progress from basic to advanced? mxpower76 Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 I started playing during the Easter sale. I got the FC3 pack (not clickable) and the A-10C. This current sale I got the F/A-18 and Huey. The A-10C learning curve felt steep but I found it satisfying. I've only had the Hornet a couple days but it seems way easier to learn then the A-10. The Huey i got last night and I've not messed with it. I'm figuring it will be a little difficult to control. So I'd say go with the F/A-18. I like the A-10 but be prepared to do a bit of reading and watch some tutorials. Yes both have training missions. Ryzen 5800x|B550|32gb|EVGA RTX 3080 |Rift S|G2|VKB-GF3|Virpil CM3
FastForward Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 For a beginner, I'd say F-86F Sabre, AJS-37 Viggen and Mirage 2000C are the easiest jets to learn. As a beginner I started with the A10C and found it too overwhelming in my taste.
spacefox Posted July 1, 2019 Author Posted July 1, 2019 Thanks - I did get the Mirage 2000C and F-18 for now. Originally, it was was challenging to see the controls on the panel in VR. Later I discovered the zoom feature and Flashlight. Either way very cool feel in VR. I know I will be spending more time in DCS later tonight to learn these birds. I was hoping for a jet with very easy to read dials and less control switches - more like touch on screen to turn on etc - slightly more automation like PMDG birds for Prepar3d for example. Is there a tool like Chaseplane for DCS? or can I make it work with DCS? Specs: i7-5820K - 4.4 Ghz OC, 64GB Ram, RTX 2070 Super, Rift S
