  1. Just happened to me. An AI E-2 ran into the back of me on the taxiway near the parking ramp at Batumi. Actually the AI will crash into each other every time there. I have a custom carrier mission launching two AI F/A-18C's and an E-2. I have them all landing at Batumi. The two Hornets are an independent flight that I have a "landing" way point set. Same with the E-2. The Hornets will land together and the lead will go to the end of the runway before turning off. The second one will turn off early and get on the taxiway. Eventually they'll meet head-on near the parking ramp and crash. Few minutes later the E-2 will land and turn off early onto that same taxi way and crash into the F/A-18's. The pic below is all AI. They crashed into me on another mission when I was in the Tomcat.
  2. Supercarrier single player quick start is under F/A-18 missions. Cold and dark, Landing practice is all there.
  3. Need to do a little more testing (at 1440p) but I'm showing a 40-45fps hit. Custom mission with same static aircraft in the same location on both the Stennis and the Roosevelt. Both carriers are on the same map out of sight of each other. In the Hornet running looking back from cat 1 at the tower. It's a FPS hit but still playable since I usually play at 1080p. High textures, water, visibility. Medium & Flat Shadows. 2x MSAA, 4xAO. The statics I used was the F/A-18A, F-14A and the E-3. 14 total on deck and 2 tugs near the tower. No NPC traffic. Stennis: 116fps Roosevelt: 71fps
  4. Try the F-16 for free for a week? Or maybe two.
  5. F/A-18: 57fps SU-25: 69fps 5700xt with undervolt 2000mhz@1090mv
  6. Flying over downtown Dubai in an A-10C I'm averaging 78-80fps. Low is around 50-60 and high is around high 80s. This is high preset with medium shadows and medium water at 1080p. MSAA at 2 and SSAA at 1.5. I should mention though I'm still running the VR texture mod that I think is helping with the FPS. I used to have a gtx1060. I'm also using my old CPU which is an i7-3770 running at 4.1ghz. I'm sure that's holding back my performance a bit. I tried the VSR (virtual super resolution) over Caucasus to run at 1440p and it looked pretty legit. That's a special option with Radeon cards. Frame rates were averaging in the mid 70s over that city with 3 air fields to the east. Not had a chance to test it anymore. VR with the 5700xt isn't that great with DCS. Figuring that's my CPU and DCS. It can do a steady 45fps but it looks a bit muddy for my tastes. A bit choppy as well. I'm using a Rift. It has good performance in other games though at mostly medium/high settings. If all goes well I should be upgrading to a 3600 next month. You should have no trouble with a 3900x.
  7. Sounds like the Firecuda would be a good bulk storage drive for like pictures, music, download files ect. Don't think I would use it to run games. Just buy another SSD and move the games over. 500gb is good for the OS.
  8. Lol that's pretty much my same experience with the Rift in DCS. We pretty much have almost the same setup. I have a 3770 non K and a 1060 6gb. Mostly steady 45fps but the graphics are on low/medium. It doesn't look that great TBH and I can't really go near down town Dubai in most cases. Can't have anything else flying near by either. I'm considering either the 2070S or the XT. And for whatever reason I didn't get the K version so it's about time to upgrade the 3770. That thing has been a rock for all these years but since I already have a new unused MSI B450 laying around I'll go AMD.
  9. Every review I've watched/read puts the 2070 Super ahead of the XT. But not by much in most cases. Think the only way you'd really notice is if you sat and watched benchmarks all day and not played the game. Of course all the reviews mentioned the cooling problems and some mentioned drivers being a bit of an issue right now. But it's early so you would think/hope they get all that situated in a month. $400 is a good price for what you can get. Assume though a 3rd party card mark up.
  10. Should be able to sell that 1080 at a good price. Then turn the 4790 into a file/media server. Maybe even a DCS server :-)
  11. -65D IR mavs can get a lock at about 9nm or so. The -65H optical mavs have lock range of 5nm.
  12. I started playing during the Easter sale. I got the FC3 pack (not clickable) and the A-10C. This current sale I got the F/A-18 and Huey. The A-10C learning curve felt steep but I found it satisfying. I've only had the Hornet a couple days but it seems way easier to learn then the A-10. The Huey i got last night and I've not messed with it. I'm figuring it will be a little difficult to control. So I'd say go with the F/A-18. I like the A-10 but be prepared to do a bit of reading and watch some tutorials. Yes both have training missions.
  13. The SU-25 that comes free is not clickable. But the free Mustang is. Switch to that one to get an idea of what it's like. I play in VR and use a trackball mouse. Works good.
