THIS MISSION CONTAINS RANDOM ELEMENTS. SOME VARIATION ON ADDITIONAL TASKINGS WILL OCCUR EVERY PLAYTHROUGH

 

ADDITIONAL AIRFRAMES MAY BE ADDED FOR STRIKE AS DESIRED. CAP AIRFRAMES MUST USE EXISTING SLOTS LABELED "CAP" DUE TO SCRIPTING, BUT A/C TYPE MAY BE FREELY CHANGED. SAR HELOS MUST USE UH-1H/MI-8 SLOTS BUT A/C TYPE MAY BE FREELY CHANGED. THIS MISSION USES CTLD AND CSAR BY CIRIBOB AS WELL AS MIST BY SPEED AND GRIMES.

 

 

 

 

 

MISSION BRIEF:

 

As the political situation in the Middle East deteriorates, ISIL has continued to gain influence, destabilizing much of the region. Earlier this morning, a devastating coordinated attack was launched in Dubai coupling suicide bombings with armed invasions of several major landmarks.

 

Al Minhad airbase was severely damaged in the attack, limiting the UAE's ability to deploy support assets of their own, and UAE ground forces have been bogged down evacuating citizens from the affected areas and establishing a secure perimeter around the attack sites.

 

In light of the immediate threat posed by the incursion of ISIL forces in the region, and the dangers an emboldened Islamic State would pose to their own borders, Iran has agreed to lend military support to the UAE to help repel the insurgent forces.

 

It is believed ISIL may have established roadside FOBs somewhere in Qatar from which they could potentially refuel and rearm stolen Iraqi fighter and attack aircraft that may have been ferried into the region in preparation for this attack.

 

 

UAE air and ground forces are still reeling from the attack. While they have established a strong perimeter and evacuated the majority of civilians from the affliced areas, they have made a formal request for NATO support in repelling ISIL from the region.

 

In addition to suicide bombings at several Western-owned businesses and the homes of prominent political figures, insurgent forces have occupied four key areas.

OBJECTIVE ALPHA - The Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro station.

==================================================

ISIL forces have bombed Dubai mall, and insurgent troops remain present in the region. Several civilians are confirmed to still be present inside the Burj Khalifa. A detachment of UAE ground forces have fortified the entrance to the tower, but are unable to leave their station to secure the metro station. Neutralize all ISIL forces in the vicinity of the Burj Khalifa. Be careful not to engage friendlies at the tower's entrance.

OBECTIVE BRAVO - Burj Al Arab and Jumeirah Beach Hotels

=================================================

ISIL forces have entered the Burj Al Arab and taken several hostages, which are being held in the hotel's ballroom. Neutralize any insurgent troops around the perimeter of the hotel and insert a special forces team* onto the helipad to enter the facility and rescue the hostages.

 

Numerous insurgent fighters have also been sighted on the rooftop of the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, though reports indicate all civilians were evacuated from that location prior to the attack.

 

*Transport flights: SF team is already on board your helos and will not affect your transport capacity. You may pick up additional troops/crates as desired.

OBJECTIVE CHARLIE - Al Minhad AFB

ISIL forces have taken control of Al Minhad and have siezed control of armor and air defense units that were undamaged in the attack. While they lack the training to operate the Patriot and HAWK batteries in the region, there are several IR systems that could still threaten coalition air support efforts.

Destroy all ISIL-controlled equipment and secure Al Minhad AFB. Once control is regained, Al Minhad can be used by coalition aircraft to refuel and rearm.

OBJECTIVE DELTA - Al Maktoum Internation Airport

The initial site of the ISIL attack. ISIL forces used several tractor trailers captured from a shipping company based at the airport to discreetly move large numbers of troops and armor. Be on the lookout for any bright red semis from Shahinat Hamra Trucking Company as these may contain additional IS fighters. All other shipping in the region has been suspended, you are weapons free on any of these trucks spotted in the AO.

The airport and the surrounding neighborhood are still occupied by ISIL forces, neutralize any insurgents in the area.

THREAT

ISIL forces have transported large numbers of armored vehicles and personnel into the region, and have captured additional equipment from the military installations they have attacked. Expect to encounter light armor and technicals throughout the AO.

 

They are known to possess both guided and unguided AAA as well as several mobile IR SAM platforms and MANPADS.

 

Former Iraqi Air Force pilots may be operating MiG-21, MiG-23, MiG-25, MiG-29, and Su-25 type aircraft in the AO.

Two versions of this mission are linked in this thread. The standard version contains a few community-created objects such as insurgent technicals and hesco barriers to add to the ambience. Further detail and installation instructions will not be provided by me; if you require assistance downloading and using mods several guides are available in the appropriate forum. You may also fly the "NOMODS" version of the mission where all objects have been replaced with default game assets.

To use the standard version, the following mods are required.

This fabulous mission is giving us all kinds of issues in 2.7. Crashes, aircraft not rendering properly, super low frame rates etc. Anyone else has this?

Hi NS, thanks for the kind words! I haven't tried to run this one in 2.7 yet, but I did replace the "mods" download with my most current version. Let me know if you're still having issues and I'll see what might be causing them. Note that I have -not- updated this specifically for 2.7 yet, so re-saving in the mission editor (and maybe adding one of the beautiful cloud presets  ) is in order before flying!

 

I have experienced a few CTD issues with some older mods in 2.7, so please try disabling anything not required by the mission to eliminate possible causes of the issue.
