CybrSlydr Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 I was hoping you folks could suggest something. I'm looking at the Obutto atm since it can double duty and function as a workstation. My gaming PC is als9 my main PC. Anyone have experience with the Evolution or something similar?
Headwarp Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 i have an obutto rev and frankly if I ever want to build a sim racing pit I'd probably buy a second much cheaper setup than the obutto rather than try to fuss with switching out between flight and driving. I mean, if you're planning to use your racing pedals as rudder pedals, I could see doing both but ultimately, my rudder pedals are hard mounted to the obutto footplate. Using VR, having a separate pit for both setups wouldn't be that hard to switch between. But my obutto pit has pretty much become my general purpose desk while at the PC, and stays setup for flight aside from my center mounted stick which I detach and reattach as necessary. I love my obutto, and it takes up less space than a desk. But switching between racing/flight for me would be more difficult unless I sacrificed my MFG Crosswinds in favor of racing pedals. Didn't really see other pits that suited a flight setup with as much customization capability as the obutto... but I've seen pits that would easily suit a wheel and racing pedals for a third of the price. Spoiler Win 11 Pro, z790 i9 13900k, RTX 4090 , 64GB DDR 6400GB, OS and DCS are on separate pci-e 4.0 drives Sim hardware - VKB MCG Ultimate with 200mm extension, Virpil T-50CM3 Dual throttles. Blackhog B-explorer (A), TM Cougar MFD's (two), MFG Crosswinds with dampener. Obutto R3volution gaming pit.
D3adCy11nd3r Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 I have the r3v as well, I like it as I use my racing pedals as my rudders as well. If I had to tear down and rebuild when I switched from driving to flying IDK how long my sanity would last. Though be prepared to have cables EVERYWHERE. I would second the split cockpits [1 for racing, 1 for flying] If you can spare the space, I could not, so the r3v is a great workstation, racing pit and flying pit. If you are above average height though I would look into a different seat, the one that comes with it is great for short flights, but longer stuff my legs start to go to sleep, I am 6'3'' and kind of have to slouch. So I bought an actual seat from a base model challenger and bolted it on.
CybrSlydr Posted July 6, 2019 Author Posted July 6, 2019 Thanks guys. :) Appreciate the input. As far as the Ozone or Rev work - do you like your purchases? Do you wish you'd gone with something else instead?
Thick8 Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 (edited) I found a Next Level f/got rig second hand; modded it a little and it worked very well. My old bones weren’t a fan of the seat so I swapped it out for a used truck seat, modded it some more, and now it’s perfect. Takes less than a minute to swap between driving, flying, and questing. If you have the time and wherewithal, finding something close to what you want and modding it is probably the best option. Tricky11 Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 I use the next level racing gt ultimate with the flight pack and swap between racing and flying in about 40 seconds.
Strong05 Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 I have the Volairsim and would not recommend. Ergonomics are not good, and way to much flex where the wheel mounts without some serious modding. 5800X3d, 32GB DDR4@3400, 6800 xt, Reverb G2, Gunfighter/TMWH
