sharkfin61 Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 (edited) Has anyone experienced the same? I was lucky enough to buy a TM Cougar from a friend of mine, who, after flying IL-2 for years, got married, quit simming  and sold me some of his hardware. After resoldering the joysticks cables of the 5-pin connector at the bottom (he put a long, thin extension on it), I found that the DMS right button was shown as a pinkie input and the TMS down button showed up as a paddle input? Firmware was flashed after the installationof the drivers. Any help and suggestions appreciated. Edited July 6, 2019 by sharkfin61 Loads do it on the fly! sharkfin61 Posted July 6, 2019 Author Posted July 6, 2019 Thanks for the diagrams. But I didn't change anything in the inside of the stick. Maybe some connectors inside are not really connected to the sockets? But, in that case, would't the buttons work at all? Loads do it on the fly! RustBelt Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 Your shift registers are off check that you got the connector pins correct going from stick to base. I think, don’t have my notes handy, you are going “backward” up the shift register. Which could happen if clock and one of the other pins is flipped I THINK. Re check the 5 pin connector.

sharkfin61 Posted July 8, 2019 Author Posted July 8, 2019 O.K. good news! I opened the grip again and, oops, I had cut the black cable of the DMS switch (which I soldered just before) with the screw again when putting the stick together. Today, after extending the original cable a 3 cm long piece (to give me some space to maneuver the cable in a position well far away from the screw) the whole HOTAS worked AS EXPECTED! Every button is doing it's job. Thank you for your help. F-16 may come now, I'm prepared. Loads do it on the fly! Good part of people that venture in open joy/throttle grips has "screwed" things in the same way. :)
