When wags was interviewed by the air podcast last spring, he mentioned that they are doing the moisture simulation part, the base for whole weathers generation. You have a NVidia card, and it might be very easy using the GeForce Experience suite. I saw something like what you describe when flying online in a thunderstorm. Very fast, initially I though it might be lightning, but then I saw "real lightning" and it was something else. New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog.
