fitness88 Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 (edited) I noticed the F-18 comm menu has no AWACS 'Declare' option like the F-15 has. What would be the reason? Is there a way to add it...maybe by editing a .lua? Thank you. Edited August 26, 2019 by fitness88
toutenglisse Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 While I have great chances to be wrong, I think the datalink automatically gives you this data. AWACS gives me a BRA, I slew TDC over the green contact that seems to be this one, and the contact shows yellow datas and immediately red datas, because datalink is on. Then I lock it. (this with radar or the same in SA page with sensor depress on yellow contacts that become red) When I don't have AWACS/datalink on, unknown contacts don't become red on radar before lock or SA page.

Good info...I understand we don't need it but is that the reason we don't see this option? What if a plane is having electronic failure having this option would be needed. What I know is that this lack of "declare" has been reported by NineLine in May ( https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3912039&postcount=2 ) , so maybe it will be added, or maybe it has not been "fixed" because datalink (D/L does this fonction in real time) so the lack is intended (I think so). In case of D/L failure, is the hornet still operational ? ( when I loose D/L I also loose all the rest and I eject if still alive :smilewink: ) If so "declare" request would matter but maybe it's an unlikely scenario ?

I was referring specifically to the D/L failure nothing else [rest of the plane in flying condition]...good to know about NineLine's report!
