IronKirton Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 Does anyone know the radar offset limits are for the F14 when locked onto a target? Just want to know how much i can crank a missile and yet still maintain lock.
Ala12Rv-Tundra Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 Isn´t that the triangle lines displayed on HSD when displaying RIO´s TID? i5 8400 | 32 Gb RAM | RTX 2080Ti | Virpil Mongoose T-50 base w/ Warthog & Hornet sticks | Warthog throttle | Cougar throttle USB | Orion 2 throttle base w/ Viper & Hornet grips| VKB T-Rudder Mk IV | Oculus Rift S | Buddy-Fox A-10 UFC | 2x TM MFDs & 1x WW DDI | 2x Bass shakers | SIMple SIMpit chair | WW TakeOff panel | Andre JetSeat | WW Hornet UFC | WW Viper ICP FC3 - Warthog - F-5E - Harrier - NTTR - Hornet - Tomcat - Huey - Viper - C-101 - PG - Hip - SuperCarrier - Syria - Warthog II - Hind - South Atlantic - Sinai - Strike Eagle - Phantom - Mirage F1 - Afghanistan - Irak
IronKirton Posted August 30, 2019 Author Posted August 30, 2019 Yeh i thought so too but i seem to lose lock before that when i start cracking
AcroGimp Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 Keep in mind it is a steered physical dish, so rate of angular change is a consideration as well as the actual gimbal limit DISCO [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] A-4E | F-5E | F-14B | F/A-18C | AV-8B NA | UH-1H | FC3 | Yak-52 | KA-50 | Mi-8 | SA-342 i7 8700K | GTX 1070 Ti | 32GB 3000 DDR4 FAA Comm'l/Instrument, FAST Formation Wingman, Yak-52 Owner/Pilot
Eagle7907 Posted August 31, 2019 Posted August 31, 2019 PSTT mode does best for cranking. That or using PAL. PDSTT is prone to losing lock when you lose closure rates. So if you crank, or enemy cranks, lock will be lost. QuiGon Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 Doesn't PAL use PSTT? It does. Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
deadpool Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 Valid question would also be: Is there a way for the pilot to reliably see for a given roll angle how close to the gimbal limits he is? At the moment it's just me - as a RIO - yelling LIMIT LIMIT LIMIT at my pilot when be comes close. IronKirton Posted September 5, 2019 Author Posted September 5, 2019 I found if the "T" symbol on the VDI gets near the edge it goes past gimbal limits
Banzaiib Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 It does. Unless you have the AIM-7 selected.
