Direwolf Posted September 14, 2019 Posted September 14, 2019 AIM9´s are not locking on the target anyway. I have the "lock" and "shoot" warning, but as soon the missile goes off the rail, it goes lost. Any ideas?

Direwolf Posted September 14, 2019 Author Posted September 14, 2019 (edited) How do I record a short track? I tried to use nvidia recorder, but the video was 370MB for 10 seconds. But this is very simple to check. I used a training mission for the AIM9 (one that came with DCS), where it starts with me right behind 4 Migs. I just locked one of the guys, got the shoot warning and fired. The missile went down to earth as soon it took off the rail.server-20190914-190250.trk Edited September 14, 2019 by Direwolf
Direwolf Posted September 15, 2019 Author Posted September 15, 2019 (edited) Another track. I noticed another glitch: I need first to shoot a missile (without a "shoot" warning), and after that the warning "shoot" appears normally in HUD, for the remaining missiles. I mean, I cant 'get the "shoot" warning in HUD until I release the first AIM9.AIM9 Bug.trk Edited September 15, 2019 by Direwolf
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted September 15, 2019 ED Team Posted September 15, 2019 Hi thanks for the track, I have tested myself and could not see a problem. Ensure to follow these guidelines How to Use the AIM-9 Summary 1. Master Arm switch to ARM 2. Weapon Select Switch to AIM-9 3. Select ACM RADAR sub mode 4. Flying to place target in the ACM RADAR scan mode, as displayed on the Head-Up Display (HUD), over the intended target to lock it on RADAR when at 5 nautical miles or closer 5. Fly to place the Steering Dot inside the ASE/NIRD Circle and squeeze the trigger when you see the SHOOT cue over the Target Designation (TD) box on the HUD You can review some more information from page 238 in the manual which can be found in the F/A-18C Folder Example: DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Doc Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Biga42 Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 I did the same mission training and the shoot cue shows up at 1.5nm with is too close, and the missile gets to the target. I think the problem is that the seeker head is only aiming to the target at a very close range.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted September 15, 2019 ED Team Posted September 15, 2019 Yes that maybe why the shoot cue is not showing in this case. There is a minimum range, which I can not recall at this time. Forum rules - DCS Crashing? GGTharos Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 Minimum range depends on shooting parameters but for tail on, non maneuvering target should be 1000' (300m) for the sidewinder family in general, except for really old 9's, like before the 9J. Lock range tail on should exceed the ability of the missile to reach it's target. Direwolf Posted September 15, 2019 Author Posted September 15, 2019 Another track with the same results. This time is DCS´s "DCTF Gauntlet" mission, where I have a Mig-15 right in front of me and closing. At around 1nm I got the "shot" cue, fire and the missile never locks. If you saw my previous videos, you saw I missed the guys, and the problem was not related to master arm on, aim9 selection, radar lock, etc. The target is locked, the missile is properly selected, I got the cues, but as soon the missile goes off the rail, it goes down to earth! Please check the video, and tell me what I am doing wrong! Like: "Your master arm is off", or "your target is not locked", or "your too far away from the target". I don´t see any of these things occurring, so I am doing everything by the book, unless someone tell me what is wrong. Bottom line: I am doing everything by the book (watch the videos, please!), and the missile´s behavior is very weird!AIM9 Bug 2.trk
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted September 15, 2019 ED Team Posted September 15, 2019 Are you running any unofficial modification? and have you tried a cleanup and repair? In the track I see the AIM-9 Track and kill the mig which is head on with you. Due to the close range you engage the debris smashes into your aircraft. Forum rules - DCS Crashing? I shot 6 AIM9 missiles! Not a single one hit the target! I don´t know why you see me hitting the target in the track! I never came close to what you saw! Really weird!

If not let me know. That´s really funny. It never happened to me the way it was displayed to you! This track recorder is really bugged! I was never hit by the debris (in my track). Anyway, I repaired, removed the mods (JSGME), and the things started to work fine. I don´t have too many mods, but some of them made some mess with my AIM 9! So, the next complain is regarding track recorder (lol)! This thing is really crazy!
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted September 15, 2019 ED Team Posted September 15, 2019 Good to here you have it fixed :) The tracks record your actions, not the flight of the missile so if there was a mod or something bugged your end it would not play back correctly.
