Phantom453 Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 Still Happy Viper Friday for us downunder. Yep, will be Friday for us down here, but what a good way to start the day with some news like that! Not long to wait at all. I bet ED's store server is taking a pounding right now as some dash for that last minute discount. Just enough time left before release to read the quick start guide from Bunyap.
Revelation Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 (edited) Last day for Pre-Order price is Oct. 3rd Well sometime on the 3rd. It may even go away right before the download is ready on the 3rd. I wouldn’t assume it is going to be available the whole day. Edited October 2, 2019 by Revelation Win 10 Pro 64Bit | 49" UWHD AOC 5120x1440p | AMD 5900x | 64Gb DDR4 | RX 6900XT
surfcandy Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 Will the F-16 be available as a regular download on Oct.3rd or only if we change over to the beta version of DCS? From Stormbirds: "For fans of the jet, if you want first access, you’ll need to switch your DCS World install to open beta. That requires a little trickery when you have the store version (Steam version is far easier) but once done you’ll convert your DCS World install over and you’ll get the very latest."
Greyman Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 It's very likely, if not certain, to be just in OB.
unknown Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 Is somebody else concerned that ED's Servers will collapse under the download/activation storm? ;) Modules: KA-50, A-10C, FC3, UH-1H, MI-8MTV2, CA, MIG-21bis, FW-190D9, Bf-109K4, F-86F, MIG-15bis, M-2000C, SA342 Gazelle, AJS-37 Viggen, F/A-18C, F-14, C-101, FW-190A8, F-16C, F-5E, JF-17, SC, Mi-24P Hind, AH-64D Apache, Mirage F1, F-4E Phantom II System: Win 11 Pro 64bit, Ryzen 3800X, 32gb RAM DDR4-3200, PowerColor Radeon RX 6900XT Red Devil ,1 x Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 2TB NVMe, 2 x Samsung SSD 2TB + 1TB SATA, MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals - VIRPIL T-50CM and VIRPIL MongoosT-50 Throttle - HP Reverg G2, using only the latest Open Beta, DCS settings
Revelation Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 Is somebody else concerned that ED's Servers will collapse under the download/activation storm? ;) Probably not. Unless there is a large DCS World update to go along with the release of the Viper it should be pretty painless. The previous times there were issues were when they released NTTR and SoH. The previous times there were issues were when they released NTTR and SoH. Maybe no map updates this time, but there are several modules waiting for patches for some weeks now.....and it's the freaking F-16 EA RELEASE!!! :D ;) Modules: KA-50, A-10C, FC3, UH-1H, MI-8MTV2, CA, MIG-21bis, FW-190D9, Bf-109K4, F-86F, MIG-15bis, M-2000C, SA342 Gazelle, AJS-37 Viggen, F/A-18C, F-14, C-101, FW-190A8, F-16C, F-5E, JF-17, SC, Mi-24P Hind, AH-64D Apache, Mirage F1, F-4E Phantom II System: Win 11 Pro 64bit, Ryzen 3800X, 32gb RAM DDR4-3200, PowerColor Radeon RX 6900XT Red Devil ,1 x Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 2TB NVMe, 2 x Samsung SSD 2TB + 1TB SATA, MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals - VIRPIL T-50CM and VIRPIL MongoosT-50 Throttle - HP Reverg G2, using only the latest Open Beta, DCS settings

brp51d Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 I understand that the stable and open beta versions of DCS World can both be installed. However, the pre-order page for the F 16 does not state that open beta version is required for early access. "Requires DCS World version 2.5 or above!" Is the F 16 considered early access when released? The DCS website states: " An Early Access module can be played on both the Open Beta and Release versions of DCS World. Once the module exits Early Access, you will automatically have the Release version." Does Eagle Dynamics have anything stating that open beta is required? thank very much
Revelation Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 Modules, with very few exceptions, are released into OB before being released into Stable Branch. You may have to wait 1 week to over a month for the Viper to reach Stable depending on what bugs or other issues are found during EA in OB. unknown Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 What Revelation said. The first EA release is going to the OB branch, if no big bugs are found it can go to the stable branch (thats the EA in OB/stable) part. If something big is found or the OB branch is screwed up with this update it can take several weeks/over a months until the EA starts for the stable branch. Use the search function of the forum, there are a couple ways that you can switch your stable to OB and back methods without having to install both branches at the same time on your PC. Modules: KA-50, A-10C, FC3, UH-1H, MI-8MTV2, CA, MIG-21bis, FW-190D9, Bf-109K4, F-86F, MIG-15bis, M-2000C, SA342 Gazelle, AJS-37 Viggen, F/A-18C, F-14, C-101, FW-190A8, F-16C, F-5E, JF-17, SC, Mi-24P Hind, AH-64D Apache, Mirage F1, F-4E Phantom II System: Win 11 Pro 64bit, Ryzen 3800X, 32gb RAM DDR4-3200, PowerColor Radeon RX 6900XT Red Devil ,1 x Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 2TB NVMe, 2 x Samsung SSD 2TB + 1TB SATA, MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals - VIRPIL T-50CM and VIRPIL MongoosT-50 Throttle - HP Reverg G2, using only the latest Open Beta, DCS settings
Void78 Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 (edited) I guess if you have bought it and have a stable version ,and it does not show in the module manager for install you will know that you need Open beta for it. Just stating the obvious:D Edited October 2, 2019 by Void78

macedk Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 And please don't hate when dcs servers are red glowing due to traffic we all want it and will get our downloads in as early as we can ...I'll the first to think what you might post but a hot sale always goes like this :). But if we had a million servers we would pay another price ..so live with it please and know the team is bending over backwards to help us all :) I work in an industry where if things goes wrong or we have a sale ..all is is trying ..and a as the guy on the other end ...the more the merrier...cold business and all. If dcs could they would and they dread and are gearing up as much as they can ..trust me :) Downed lines , slow speed etc is bad for business and they know ...so don't flame. It's a cheap shot at best and tells more about you than them ;) OS: Win10 home 64bit*MB: Asus Strix Z270F/ CPU: Intel I7 7700k /Ram:32gb_ddr4 GFX: Nvidia Asus 1080 8Gb Mon: Asus vg2448qe 24" Disk: SSD Stick: TM Warthog #1400/Saitek pro pedals/TIR5/TM MFDs [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
