An 11 Squadron Typhoon aircraft is pictured prior to a sortie at Royal Air Force Coningsby in Lincolnshire. Such sorties enable front line Typhoon pilots to maintain their high standard of flying and combat skills. The Typhoon force at Coningsby maintains Britain's Quick Reaction Alert, ready to launch in just a few minutes to intercept hostile or suspicious aircraft. Despite the recent heavy snowfall, the hard work of the airmen and women at RAF Coningsby ensured that flights could still take place and work could continue as normal.

Saw them live many times on the range at Putlos when I served. Awesome machine, and incredibly precise. No need to spray and pray, that thing hits smack in the middle!

Too bad they have all been decommissioned by now, would have been the perfect weapon for Afghanistan. Punches through everything without being the overkill of a MBT.

:punk:That is awesome. What are they being replaced with?

I really enjoy manning the Gepard in CA although my accuracy is nowhere as close as the real thing :)

Oh, they are being replaced with the new "Nothing Mk.1". Yep, seriously.

I remember when they were shooting at towed targets, they were very often precise enough to be able to actually shoot off the cable the target was being towed with, making it fall into the sea.

Good times...
