topol-m Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 I think this footage hasn`t been posted, i accidently came across it. It`s rare to see a 2 billion $ aircraft crashing. That`s the only known B-2 crash so far. The accident took place on February 23 2008 in Andersen Air Force Base in Guam. The 2 member crew ejected successfuly (perfect timing) and survived. Here`s the video: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Here`s the video: Haven't heard any official reports on this one, so can't say what went wrong but seems to me the pilot stalled the plane right after takeoff. I've seen this video before and thought of the same. It can also be credited to a FLCS or similar system failure 'cause plane pitched up to steep, if you compare it to a first B-2 you'll notice it's too steep! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

GGTharos Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 It was the FLCS, bit it wasn't a failure. The calibration for the pitot tubes was done incorrectly (due to moisture apparently) and they fed the FLCS faulty information. The calibration for the pitot tubes was done incorrectly (due to moisture apparently) and they fed the FLCS faulty information. :D Did the guy doing the calibration fail to do it correctly? Was the calibration wrong? Then the calibration Fail and so did the avionics troop, hence, crash cause by a fail :smartass: But you are correct, it wasn't FLCS fail, but maintenance one. The report is on one of the link I posted with the AIB findings. 1 To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. topol-m Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Some pictures of my favourite US aircraft. And a request - guys, if you have any high quality photos of it please post them :( BTW there are some claims that PAK-FA might have some resemblance with YF-23 - fingers crossed. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Vekkinho Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 (edited) Check the Gray ghost on the nose wheel cover! I was also a Black Widow fan during the VF-23 vs YF-22 playoffs, I simply liked the looks of it better. I watched a documentary on Black Widow and IIRC all VF-23 prototypes are scraped today, there's just a single 1:1 scale mock up in one of the museums in US. topol-m Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Thanks for the videos. This amazing design is not dead yet. Northrop has already presented some pictures of F/B-23 (a future bomber concept) sharing a lot of design solutions with YF-23. So there is light in the tunnel  [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

ED Team Groove Posted August 22, 2009 ED Team Posted August 22, 2009 Finally some Shkval footage, thanks 1000 times! Now they need the subs to bring them in quietly, although Akula II should be as silent as 688i i heard. Our Forum Rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en
topol-m Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 Now they need the subs to bring them in quietly, although Akula II should be as silent as 688i i heard. So is the 935 Borei class ballistic missile submarine which can also use shkval torpedos. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
X-man Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 So is the 935 Borei class ballistic missile submarine which can also use shkval torpedos. But the Boomers wont try to seek out other subs. They'd rather avoid them altogether (and not use any torpedoes). ;) 64th Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 135.181.115.54

Case Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Don't tell me they've written off another Su-35? There are only 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

RvETito Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 (edited) Don't tell me they've written off another Su-35? This claims to be 'safe' landing during MAKS. topol-m Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 (edited) It looks safe. I`ve seen this type of landing on other airshows performed with Su-30. Example of control over the aircraft. Edited August 24, 2009 by topol-m [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
