FlankerMan Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 Why do these SAMs seem to have a "second burn" or what have you?
corn322 Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 Probably they have a boost motor then a sustain motor.
Kang Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 No idea about the 48N6, but the SM-2 Standard was upgraded with a solid rocket booster in the early 80s.
nighthawk2174 Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 As far as I'm aware much like the 5V55r the 48N6 is boost only with the SM2MR (non ER) being a boost-sustain type.
FlankerMan Posted September 30, 2019 Author Posted September 30, 2019 Pics It's not a bug, just a question. Anyways, here are some pictures, please explain the difference to me.
nighthawk2174 Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 The difference between boost and boost-sustain?
nighthawk2174 Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 Above a certain speed the effect bugs out and that's what you get.
FlankerMan Posted October 1, 2019 Author Posted October 1, 2019 Okay. Also, what's the sound the 48N6 makes even after it's burned out? Ramjet?
nighthawk2174 Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 Just the wind effect the 48N6 doesn't have a ramjet
FlankerMan Posted October 2, 2019 Author Posted October 2, 2019 Okay, but why do no other SAMs have it?
