[ALREADY REPORTED] SAM mode very sluggish, STT mode smooth!?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I noticed that when I enter SAM mode, in RWS, the target box and steering cue are very sluggish, as if they were updating every 2-3 seconds, making very difficult to "predict" where and when to stop turning in order to stay on the target.

However, by pressing TMS forward once more, I go into STT mode, and that works very smooth making the whole tracking-killing of the enemy A LOT easier.

Is this a bug or is supposed to be like that?

Thanks!

I'd say it is supposed to be like that: you can see the same behaviour with LTWS in the Hornet, for example.

Hmmm... well, it could be.

But I lose my target very easily in SAM mode, which is very annoying when I forget to go forward on the TMS one more time.... I don't know if it's because this "sluggishness" or if it's because the radar is too busy trying to keep track of more things around the target...?

In STT mode I never lose the target, so I guess it's always better to use STT for now, untill we get TWS working..? Am I right?

Thanks for your reply!

Anyone know if the target in SAM mode has RWR pegged like STT or is it passive like TWS?

The guy being locked in SAM will see an STT lock on their RWR, as tested last night. However, if you launch in SAM mode, they don't get a launch warning.

It's definitely not supposed to be like that, not even in the Hornet. It's something they need to fix in both.

Oh, that's good to know umkhunto!

Now, back to my first question then, the SAM mode is not supposed to be like that...?

Should we make a new thread reporting it as a bug? Thank you very much for your reply, very useful information there. :)

Ah sweet, thanks! I didn't know that.

I thought it was normal, since the radar is scanning the area every once a second or so. with STT, it's a continuous track. But I wouldn't know... was only an educated guess. You almost wouldn't need STT if it was smooth and responsive as STT. I was hoping it was a passive lock like TWS though!

It should be soft lock, it isn't at the moment. I bet it's something that will get fixed. Launching a missile in STT, also does not alert the target of the launch, which is also something that needs to be sorted out.
