Hey all.

Looking to be pointed in the right direction. My search and youtube didn't find what I was looking for.

I can find single targets with Aim 7 / 120's but not how to engage multiple targets.

Can someone point me in the right direction pls

Thanks :)

At this stage you can't really engage more than 1 target at a time with Amraam as TWS (Track While Scan) mode has not yet been implemented. When TWS is introduced, you should be able to "soft lock" several tracks, then launch Amraams at them.

I don't think you can ever attack more than 1 target with AIM-7 at a time, as the missile depends on the radar being in single target track (STT) mode to guide it to the target (the missile needs the continuous reflected radar energy from the target to guide it).

Hopefully that explains it somewhat, but I'm no expert.

Cheers!

Aim 7 is old school one at a time...

New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, HP Reverb (formermly CV1)

Old-N-busted: i7 4720HQ ~3.5GHZ, +32GB DDR3 + Nvidia GTX980m (4GB VRAM) :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, Rift CV1 (yes really).

You can fire an AMRAAM in the general direction of each target, with no lock. Don't shoot two in the same direction because the missiles will attack each other.

edit: The AMRAAM trajectory is kind of random when you shoot it so it can be hard to aim at long distances. So what you do is lock a target, shoot a sidewinder (out of range and right when you get tone) at it, then lock the leaving sidewinder. Then you fire two AMRAAMs at the sidewinder. The first one will chase and destroy the sidewinder, whereupon the second will go pitbull, more or less facing your intended target, and it will hopefully acquire the intended target. You are free to fire another AMRAAM at another target in this time, so that's two targets at once with four trigger pulls, or 3 targets at once with 9 trigger pulls.

Everything that Scotch75 has said was spot on.

So far in DCS,only missiles that can engage multiple targets in

AA(Air to air) are Aim-120,R-77(Mig 29 C only),Aim-54 Phoenix and soon to be introduced SD-10 that will come along with JF 17.

Happy flying:pilotfly:

AIM 7 is a Semi Active Radar Missile that does not lock onto the target itself it follows the radar return to target and thus if you lose a lock the missile will not hit its target. You will have heard fox 1 these are AIM7's being fired. They do have some positives in that when firing into an area that contains friendlies they will not acquire a non hostile target. Generally you will want to fire at close to max range, then crank a little left or right to maximize F-Pole on the hostile your engaging whilst maintaining radar lock.

AIM 120 , these are fire and forget and thus more reflect your original point, you can lock, fire, undesiginate, lock another hostile, fire very quickly with practice. Note you will here online people calling Fox 3 - more than likely a 120 being fired if a hornet's around.

Note you can also launch if the enemy contact is within the circa 10nm range and within the boresight of the hud a fox 3 "mad dog". No radar lock but launching as a last resort for self defence if hostile on nose before extending. This is not be be done if friendly aircraft in the AO.

Hope this helps a little!

Thanks for all your comments.

Without editing the mission, some just load the hornet up with aim 7, I'll look to see what I can learn from the video.

Cheers
