I thought the DDI EW page was the same as the Azimuth Indicator.

What is the difference between the 2?

Thank you.

The EW page for the Hornet is the Electronic Warfare page (where your RWR is repeated on one of the DDI's, as well as the actual RWR scope by left knee (below the right DDI). It is able to setup your countermeasure program(s), as well as give you a bit better view of the threat environment.

For the azimuth indicator, are you talking about the ADI? Often used for approach and landing (for me), but that's about it. When you select INS, it will uncage the display and provide some useful information for landing.

Cheers,

Don

Yes, they are basically showing the same thing. As daarseth pointed out, though, the DDI page also includes the countermeasure programs and such.

Also:

[…] the actual RWR scope by left knee (below the right DDI)

Hold on a minute... I suddenly have the feeling I've been sitting entirely wrong in the F-18.

Yeah sorry, right knee - not left knee

Maybe it was a case of right side of brain not communicating with left side of brain. Wait, maybe the other way around... Oh heck, you get it.

Thanks, and sorry for the left knee / right knee snafu. As the other stated - that would make the seating position rather uncomfortable - especially when pulling G.

Apologies as I always refer to the "azimuth indicator" as the RWR. A personal trait fault it would appear.
