DmitriKozlowsky Posted October 11, 2019 Posted October 11, 2019 Why does weather minimums DOES NOT stop or effect AI? All aircraft have weather minimums, for crosswind landings, and so on. Yet DCS weather does not effect AI, as far as I can see. I gather that AI only fly with SFM or no flight model when they are far away, but weather minimums do need to affect enemy and friendly AI, as it does player aircraft.
Kang Posted October 11, 2019 Posted October 11, 2019 I think you gave your own answer already. AI has the magic power of going on sky rails now and then, and I guess there is a technical necessity for simplifying them. That includes ludicrous crosswind landings, uncanny energy retentions and the dreaded missiles fired from pylons that have been physically detached from the plane minutes ago. I think the good thing about the crosswinds or fog conditions at least is that a mission designer can work around them usually, by selecting suitable landing fields. Maybe in the future...
DmitriKozlowsky Posted October 11, 2019 Author Posted October 11, 2019 Seems like simple boolean OP IF-ELSE statement in code. If crosswind at Kabuleti is larger then 20 knots, NO LAND NO /TO ; Else
Weta43 Posted October 12, 2019 Posted October 12, 2019 Maybe because there is no capricious weather god in DCS. In the real worl, the weather gods control the weather, and can cause unexpected conditions. Every mission that the AI fly in in DCS has been made by a user, and the weather conditions are set by the maker, and they're just relying on users being sensible and not telling the AI to take off or land with 100 km/h crosswinds ? Cheers.
