Bob Morton Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 Hi, I am trying to do the tutorial for taking off the F-14B from the carrier deck. I just can’t seem to be able to make tight enough turns to get lines up with the catapult. I have Logitech pro flight pedals. Any hints about how you o do this? I keep rolling off the carrier. I know I a, supposed to do braking on one wheel to turn tightly but does not seem to work. Is there something that I need to make those brakes work properly? Thanks for the help. JayBird Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 I might be pointing out the obvious, but use the rudder with Nose Wheel Steering engaged via the pinky switch, to control the nose wheel steering F-14 | F/A-18C | F-16C | AJS-37 | M-2000C | A-10C | UH-1H | F-5E | P-51 | Bf 109 Nevada | Persian Gulf | Normandy | Supercarrier YouTube | Steam | Discord: JayBird#4400 i7-7700K | GTX 980 | 32gb RAM | 500gb SSD | 2TB HDD| Track IR | TM Warthog HOTAS | Logitech Pro Pedals

I was trying to use the brakes to control my movement rather than the rudder. I will give it a shot and see. r4y30n Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 Yup, steering angle is 70°, that's proper drift car angle! And if I'm not mistaken all the other carrier birds have the same angle but the Hornet can switch between 70° and a reduced range to avoid over controlling on land.
draconus Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 I once had to finish the mission by landing and taxi to the parking spot but the problem was that I used emergency langing gear down so no NWS for me on the ground. I did a couple corners using differential braking on one side and the opposite side throttle, so it is doable but painful to use :) Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
