Pinefang Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 Is anyone else having problems getting to the buttons and switches along the rear of the right and left consoles. I can't reach the test switches nor the lights and trim panels also on the right console I cant see or reach the Avionics panel. Anyone else? How did you overcome this difficulty? A zoom function in VR might help but I haven't found a way to make the zoom work in VR.
LuSi_6 Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 go to controls, UR layer, you find two zoom settings at the end of the list :pilotfly: Warthog HOTAS, Saitek Pedals, Oculus Rift :joystick:
delevero Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 Also depending on what VR headset you have then be aware you might need to know the following. There is a VR zoom function in DCS i use it often. As LuSI_6 write, go to into the keyboard/joystick settings page. click the scroll down button and use the drop down menu to go all the way to the bottom and you should see "UR layer" In there you find the VR zoom button ( thing its the zoom at the bottom of that page ) Regarding zoom.. If you are using example pimax vr headset you might notise that when you zoom in your line of sight cross each other. If this happen then you have to turn on the function named " compatible with parallel projections" in pimax software or in some other software. I do this in Dcs and xplane since i have a pimax vr headset. tip.. in VR also try to hold in key 0 ( null ) on your numpad and press 1-9 keys.. now you can shift the possition arround and more easy look at some things.. but be aware it not easy. In general i agree its VERY difficult to look at the test buttons and also the buttons on the right side of your "ass". I admit i skip the test functions since its really annoying and difficult in vr. but i have started to memorize what buttons to press so i avoid sitting there breaking my neck.. Personaly a solution would be if we could just use the numpad 0 key and 1-9 buttons and we see a 2d popup in left corner of screen.. it would be a usefull solution/feature. We only use the test buttons during startup, but in general it would be really helpfull if we can get some kind of popup of everyting on the left side that is behind the trottle. its hard to see
ClearDark Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 Rift S here, no issues. The only thing I did was switch from my non-rotating chair to a rotating chair (the seat is on top of a rotatng axle) That way, i don't have to turn my neck, i turn my entire body, VR doesn't care :D
rrohde Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 When on the ground you can just lean forward, then press the button you've assigned to re-center the VR view. Having leaned forward first moves you wayyyy back in the seat so you can reach those buttons for ground-start easily. Once ready to roll, sit normal in your seat and re-center the VR view once more. That's how I do it and it works well enough. Another pointer - be sure to press Alt+Enter after DCS starts for it to run in full screen, else you might find yourself clicking outside DCS while trying to reach those aforementioned cockpit switches during startup. :) PC: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X | MSI Suprim GeForce 3090 TI | ASUS Prime X570-P | 128GB DDR4 3600 RAM | 2TB Samsung 870 EVO SSD | Win10 Pro 64bit Gear: HP Reverb G2 | JetPad FSE | VKB Gunfighter Pro Mk.III w/ MCG Ultimate VKBcontrollers.com

I wonder how difficult it is for real Viper pilots? Is it just a case of muscle memory and not actually looking at some switches? Edit: yes VR zoom is very useful when using the IFF on the FCR amongst other things like reading the mode of the EHSI although that is done with crossed eyes :)... Rift CV1 here... Kazansky222 Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 (edited) NVG's with the Pimax is a little wierd, double visiony on normal FoV. Also I would love to be able to use the VR zoom, without getting double vision with it, and yes parallel projection fixes it, and it also cuts my performance by 40%.
