Syndrome Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 New to DCS, this is my first jet, and loving it. I have a question though. Was going through the start-up tutorial in game and got to the part where it runs a check of the Manual Pitch Override momentary switch on the elevators. The voice in the tutorial says the override should cause the angle of the elevators to increase when the override is held down and the stick is full forward, and that I am supposed to verify this visually, but a visual confirms the elevator stays at the same angle with the stick forward with or without the override switch pressed down. I assigned the override to a button on my throttle, and can verify that it's being held down when I am looking at the tail of the jet. Am I missing a step? Or misunderstanding the tutorial?

Frederf Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 Current MPO is not providing control over the tail unless you're already in the deep stall condition. In the normal AOA range it has no effect. In reality MPO functions at all AOA. So it works to get you out of a deep stall but you can't test it unless you get into a deep stall.
Skligmund Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 I can confirm it works in a deep stall. Kept me from nailing the ground once. silent one Posted October 27, 2019 Posted October 27, 2019 No need to use MPO unless you are in a flat spin.
bbrz Posted October 27, 2019 Posted October 27, 2019 No need to use MPO unless you are in a flat spin. You can get easily stuck in a deep stall without spinning. i7-7700K 4.2GHz, 16GB, GTX 1070
