HunchyTheHuncher Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 (edited) My Elgato Stream Deck has become an indispensable bit of kit for DCS so I decided to mount it into a button box instead of a conventional numerical keypad. Lobinjaevel Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 Your embedded video didn't work for me, but followed your signature, it looks great! Very clean simpit, great job, thanks for sharing your plans in the videodescription!

Very clean simpit, great job, thanks for sharing your plans in the videodescription! Thanks! I have fixed up the links now. Designing the enclosure motivated me to finally learn about 3D printing. It's a godsend for people like me with minimal wood or metal working skills! Lobinjaevel Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 I've been using a 3d printer for my projects since 2012, no regrets, it's a fantastic tool if you don't have a workshop. I live in a apartment and it's very cheap to experiment with also :)

There is definitely a bit of learning curve, especially getting the slicing settings optimised. Which printer and software are you using? Lobinjaevel Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 I starten with an old i3 kit, bought a wanhao, now I use a Ender 3. Alot och bang for your buck if your willing to tinker a bit! I mostly use simplify3d, but Cura is getting alot of nice features so I might switch over. I use onshape for CAD, been trying out fusion360 but haven't comitted since I can make what I want in onshape pretty fast

It worked reasonably well out of the box, but I have added a few mods (glass bed, bed supports, etc) to improve performance. I tried using Cura, but that gave me a lot of stringing so am now using the Creality's own slicer which seems to work fine. sobe Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 HunchyTheHuncher Very nice. If I can find someone locally (Bend, Oregon USA) to print the enclosure for me, is your list of the various items needed to assemble the project complete or do I need additional items? I am a beginner on things like this. Trackir4 using the latest Trackir 5 software, Win10 Pro [Creator Update] updated from Win7Pro Pro 64Bit, Intel® Core™ i5-2500 3.30 GHz 6M Intel Smart Cache LGA115 , GigaByte GA-Z68XP-UD4 Intel Z68 Chipset DDR3 16GB Ram, GTX MSI Gaming 1060 [6 GB] Video Card, Main Monitor 1 on left 1920x1080 Touchscreen Monitor 2 on right 1920x1080 .

I am a beginner on things like this. The list I provided in the YouTube description is fairly comprehensive. I recommend checking out the Leo Bodnar site for wiring diagrams. You will also need some knobs like these and a terminal block to connect the toggle switch LEDs to (the 5V power output from the Leo Bodnar board is wired up to this). That is pretty much it!
