VRSimRigs Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 I had been wondering if this was possible, only to find it is indeed possible after jumping in a dogfight server online and finding the Tomcat all fired up, kneeled and ready for takeoff-just need to press one button to connect to cat, throttle up, salute ready for launch ready and go! Searched the forum and the web to no avail, so any help in understanding how I might do this (I am guessing it's a script) is appreciated!! Thanks in advance!!!
IronMike Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Hi! It is actually very simple. When you place an aircraft in the mission editor, you have several waypoints, you have turning point, landing, fly over point and take off. First place a carrier somewhere in the sea. Second select an F14 and place it over the carrier. On the right side the unit menu will appear, and there you select the waypoint from "turning point" to "take off from runway". This sets up the aircraft fully started on the catapult. The other take off options are self explenatory, try them out. Of course, do not forget to set the unit to player, so that you can fly it, or client, if you want to use it for an online mission. The general manual contains a section about the mission editor, which helps a lot for all of that, check it out! Hope that helps. VRSimRigs Posted October 30, 2019 Author Posted October 30, 2019 After further research into scripts and now MIST, I believe I'm getting closer to understanding how this is done but still appreciate any insight on the original question as none of the videos on implementing these scripts are showing how you might spawn in an aircraft perfectly lined up on the carrier deck to easily hook up to the cat with all systems functioning and ready for launch...I'll go tinker to see if it becomes clearer as I implement the above lua scripts in my mission file...

Ah, was just composing my other message while you replied, haha-thanks man! Okay so take off from ramp is not the appropriate choice for the carrier? I will have to hop into the sim rig to check mission settings, but pretty sure I do have take off from ramp selected, but my aircraft always spawns near elevator, and while I do have it set to spawn with aircraft systems on, I still need to do some pre-flight set up such as steer to cat, sweep wings for takeoff, kneel front strut, then finally hook up to cat...is it as simple as just setting all those functions as tasks that would need to be assigned in ME and performed at start of mission then?

I appreciate it very much-thanks! I read through Heatblur F-14 manual yesterday a bunch and didn't see anything specific to this-will dive into the DCS General Manual...it's been a while...been using ED's sims since LockOn so the mission editor is definitely not new to me, but never got into using scripts so figured that was the missing link...

IronMike Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 Glad it works for you now, bud! You can always also open one of our missions and see how we do it. Migparts Posted March 18 Posted March 18 (edited) Well i did it - it still puts the plane flying near the carrier. It won’t let me place it directly over the carrier. It will always keep some distance. Edited March 18 by Migparts George

Try with CVN-74 or CV-59. 1 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
Migparts Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Yes that's correct. I do not own the Super carrier. I will try with CVN-74 and CV-59 though to see if it works. George
