facetious1 Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 Hi all, After 3 deployments with over 2.3 years under my belt away from computer gaming, I guess I am old, stupid, or out of time!?!?! My biggest problem getting back in sims: 1) How do I map my Saitek X-55??? Is there some easy way that will show me the mapping buttons besides me spending near 2 hours (that I spent and it did not work right)...I repeat after 2.3 years from computer sims, I am really rusty... 2) I have a Rift-S coming.. does that add even more complication to play this in VR? 3) Can I get a hand hold? (I do not have an ego).:helpsmilie: Thanks to the helpful ones! randomTOTEN Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 Here's some help for question #1. I suggest that you clear all bindings for all devices first, then bind the minimum you need (things that are on the real HOTAS) and then add joystick bindings as you find you need them. Less is more IMVHO. nIXdazooP30

Any cell is fine. Then when you press it button it will jump to the assigned command. Is that what you want? It was not really clear.. David OC Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 (edited) I show some tips on quickly finding and binding up the control for the Su-25t in this video, that can be used for any aircraft. Many clickable aircraft now have the HOTAS as a category, so you can select that and quickly go thru and bind up your controls once selected that category. To play in VR is quite easy, Install Rift software and select vr under the VR tab in DCS. Hit the VR default graphic settings to test. Change as required / keep at least 45 fps or you will feel sick lol. Bind up a VR recenter button under VR control options. Called UI layer. Snacko Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 (edited) You can assign each button/hat directly in the game. OR assign the keyboard commands to the button in the Saitek Profiler software. One way or the other. Not both. FYI, if you have a Saitek profile loaded to the Hotas with a keyboard command assigned to a button, then that button will not be seen or recognised in game if you try to assign it to a command. Basically you need to know which buttons in a Saitek profile have key commands and which don't. I have buttons for teamspeak/discord with key commands. And other buttons are blank in the profile so I can assign them in game.
