viper2097 Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 Had a flight yesterday on the CA map with the Viggen. Tried to dial in Beslan, which has the Base 21 according the kneeboard. Base selector on the radio stops at 20. Not possible to select Beslan. Steam user - Youtube I am for quality over quantity in DCS modules
TOViper Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 Maybe Saab hasn't provided more "slots" due to the smaller amount of airforce bases in Sweden back then in the seventies? MYSE1234 Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 The left dial has a total of 42 positions, and the right one has 84. Each position on the left dial has a total of 10 preprogrammed channels, selectable by the buttons numbered "0-9" on the bottom rows on the radio control panel. The right dial has 5 preprogrammed channels per position, selectable by the 2nd row of buttons from the top. Viggens FR22 has a total of 840 preprogrammed channels + the 4 from the FR24. So selecting base 21, in this case Beslan should definitely be possible. https://www.aef.se/Avionik/Notiser/Fr22-Fr24_Notis.htm Viggen is love. MYSE1234 Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 Pretty sure 21 is just a list number and not to do with changing dials. This guy’s guide is top notch on this stuff; see if it helps. I'm pretty sure you have to change the dial to select the airfield that you want to speak to. You might have some problem comunicating if you're on the wrong frequency. :smilewink: In sweden the air force wings are designated by a number, for example F21. In the Viggen that number is used for inputting the takeoff/landing location(LS/L1/L2), "9021" or "9921", aswell as the number used in the base selector on the radiopanel. The name for the dial is "Basväljare", base selector. As in airbase selector. So if you take of from lets say F7, for take off you want the dial to be on 7, so that you can speak to the ATC at your take off base. Then when you are approaching your landing base in this case F21, you change your dial to 21 instead of 7. That way you will have the correct freq right away, instead of messing around with the manual selectors. The letters are different frequencies for the base that you have selected. D is a regional channel, whatever that means. The numbers in DCS have the same function, but are not based on the "names" of the air base, but rather just randomly given by the programmers that made our lovely Viggen. Viggen is love. Skyflash Posted November 26, 2019 Posted November 26, 2019 Honestly I haven´t tried the FR24 in the game yet so I don´t know wheather or not it works how it should be working. In the real aircraft When you use The FR24 for communication in backup channel H,E,F or G you use the pushbutton SM next to the button TRÅD to communicate and not Radio transmit/receive button on the Control stick. The Radio transmit/receive button on the Contol stick is used to communicate with FR22 and also when you use the minussign pushed in on FR22 and manually set the frequency set on the bottom left side on the front panel.
