[REPORTED]Buddylasing - Impact trailing behind moving target

Recommended Posts

Posted

When I'm lasing a moving target, and I drop myself a GBU or Mav-E, then the impact is spot on the laser / target.

If I'm buddylasing and another is dropping a GBU or Mav-E onto a moving target, the impact is way behind the target.

Most times the target don't get destroyed or even damaged.

Noticed this first when the cat has been released, tried it a few days ago and it is still an issue.

Tried lasing platforms: F-14, F-18

Tried buddy platforms: F-14, F-18, Harrier

But I'd guess it has something to do with netcode, rubberbanding etc. and all modules are affected the same.

Here is one Tacview picture of our last session we tried that:

attachment.php?attachmentid=221180&stc=1&d=1573803980

As you see, the Mav-E impacts way behind the driving vehicle, while it still was locked perfectly in point track and also laser designated. The behavor is reproducable without any problems. The faster the vehicle drives, the bigger the effect is.

The Trackfile is quite big as it was a MP session with 6 players over 1 1/2 hours. Also I'm quite sure that ED is aware of the problem and does not need any help to reproduce it. If so, please advice and we will try to create a shortest possible trackfile.

Hi

We would need to see a short track replay of the issue if possible.

If the vehicle is moving fast there will be some deviation.

thanks

regarding buddy lasing, then i notised that sometimes when i press F6 then it look like the bomb will not hit its target and land example 50m to long.

BUT even though the bomb miss on my screen then its a hit on my wingmans screen.

So maybe there is some kind of bug where players do not see the excact same thing when using buddy lasing.

sometimes can be attributed to desync, the team are looking in to what can be done here.

As requested, we did a trackfile especially for that purpose.

I was running the dedicated server on my computer where I also joined the server as client.

My buddy and me have a very stable connection and usually a ping between 30-60ms.

I was lasing, he was droping as you can see in the trackfile.

He intentionally let Efuz stay at Off, so that the exact imapct point of the GBUs can be seen better.

Unfortunately, we were also a little bit unlucky.

Vehicles have been hit while they were very, very slow because they exactley arrived at a turnpoint, and I also forgot to equip myself with some GBUs to show that it is no problem to hit the moving targets when I'm lasing myself.

However, on the first drop / vehicle, you can clearly see how the GBU is trailing behind the vehicle. Second vehicle was very slow and got hit because of that. On the other two drops, it was a bit unlucky, but can still be seen.

Attached is the trackfile from the server and both clients, also the tacview.

Please advice if you need any further information for investigation.

So are there any news about that?

Issue is present since a long time, I guess ED is fully aware of it.

I report it.

Even that ED is fully aware of it, I'm asked for a track file.

So I, and my buddy, invest the time for setting up a mission in the editor, fly it, gather all the tracks together and report it.

I post it here as it was demanded.

Since a month only silence. Even I asked if there is something else needed.

I don't ask for a fix within a day. Only a "Thank you for providing those data. We have been able to look into it and replicate the problem. We've added it to our bug-tracker and will fix it asap. Thank you for helping us and spending your time." would have been nice and more then enough.

But just ignorance and silence is not very polite.

Apologies,

I try to get around as many reports as I can, I have overlooked this one but will check now.

Thanks

EDIT: The track replays look good, the weapon looks to be hitting within tolerance for a moving vehicle. Faster vehicles are harder to track and last minute course changes will be harder to track.

If the results are different in MP it will be desync and the team are looking into solution for it.

I Have marked this reported as I suspect it is related to the NET issues we have reported already.

thank you for your time and effort in this report.

One thing we forgot to show in the track:

If I'm lasing the moving target myself, the GBU hits spot on.

If I'm lasing for my buddy, it gets trailed as in the track.
