Belphe Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 Hi, Could we talk about the below changes from yesterday's patch? I welcomed them with a smile on my face but some still remain unclear. Perhaps you could help me understand: 1. "Increased IR signature for the F-14" Do we know if this was drastic? Has anyone noticed a change? 2. "TCS: you can now fire phoenix and sparrow missiles on targets that have the radar slaved to TCS;WIP/not yet implemented: lock azimuth to TCS angle for RDR supersearch" Does this require a live RIO in the back? Could anyone describe me the process of doing this? 3. "Fix: Allow half-action HCU slewing in TV mode to override slave to STT for TCS direction" Again, do we need a real RIO for this? How does this work? 4. "Tweaked missile loadout drag values on all stations" Was drag added or removed? Anybody noticed a difference? 5. "Improved lead pursuit steering solution for missile launches" Is this talking about actual missile behaviour or just the graphical solutions we see on VFI? I wish I was at home this week to test & educate myself in regards to the above. Instead, I will greatly appreciate your responses.. :) Thanks! Never say never, Baby! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
QuiGon Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 2: AFAIK Jester is not capable of doing this. It works like explained in the manual: http://www.heatblur.se/F-14Manual/general.html#tcs-slave-radar-acquisition 3: Again, AFAIK Jester is not capable of doing this. It works as explained in the patch note: You press half-action on the HCU and slew it arround while a STT is established. Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
saburo_cz Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 One to point 4: AIM-7s on shoulders are now less draggy than AIM-54 there. F6F P-51D | P-47D | F4U-1D | Mosquito FB Mk VI | Spitfire | Fw 190D | Fw 190A | Bf 109K | WWII Assets Pack Normandy 2 | The Channel | Sinai | Syria | PG | NTTR | South Atlantic F-4E | F-14A/B | F/A-18 | F-86 | F-16C | A-10C | FC-3 | CA | SC |

It was adjusted to be more accurate, which means it is increased now by almost 200%. This does not affect missiles so much, but for example the range one can lock the F14 in EOS. 2. As answered by Quigon 3. As answered by Quigon 4. Since the missile and loadout drag values in DCS seem to be more or less all over the place, we adjusted them such from our side that they match the perfomance data expected. This means mainly: aim9s and aim7s as well as their respective pylons are much much less draggy. Aim54s however are a bit more draggy though, they produced negative drag, includind their pylons. So drag should not be an issue against performance anymore. This "fixes" (or works around) in our opinion the well known drag issue. 5. This affects missile behavior on launch. Their lead steering off the rail has now been improved, the biggest difference you will notice in the aim9. It is more realistic now as in the missile does not fly a path that makes no sense towards the lead pursuit it needs to pull. Gyrovague can correct me here, or add something, if I forgot anything.
