Jetmar Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 Hi, did anyone test the fuel flow and range of this F-14? Seems to burn way too much fuel...Doesn't look like able to fly for hours if range is 2000nm or so.

But I have found it to be pretty decent otherwise.:) Just gotta manage your fuel consumption by not flying faster than you need to. If you have 18,000 lbs of fuel and you are using 4000lbs of fuel an hour. That gives you about 4.5 hours flight time. Which I would not say is bad. Cut that down to 3000lbs and you've got 6 hours, although you'll be pretty much at the minimum thrust required to stay airborne. Cut the AB and climb to high alt, then tell us story about flying from Caucasus to Persian Gulf ;) Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
FWind Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 The ferry range of F-14B/D maybe between 1700nm to 1730 nm.
statrekmike Posted December 15, 2019 Posted December 15, 2019 In order to get long ranges out of combat jets, you REALLY need to think about how high you are flying and what your speed is. hanging out at 20,000 feet or less while cruising along at full mil power will only get you so far. Going up to 30,000 feet or more and setting your speed to 0.8 mach will get you a lot further.

Unfortunately no, but the distance should be easily covered. You'll see only generic ground beyond the map boundaries but all the avionics should be fine regarding ranges, bearings and coordinates. Spurts Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 I can take off from Batumi and get up to 40+kft running full AB all the way to the NW-most airport, and I can do it loaded so long as I do a Mil power take-off and climb to 30k first. The real F-14 had best range at .72-.74M, wings out. It sips fuel back there but even a Hornet will beat you to the objective.
