CBStu Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 So I have been trying to get this working experimenting w/ lots of different control options for slewing w/ my TM WH throttle button. I know there is an upgrade but out of stock so I am trying different curves, different keyboard buttons for the depress function, etc. But how do you generally fly the plane? Steady altitude? What altitude? What speed? I find it's hard to locate a truck (like in the training mission), then it is hard to slew and lock, and suddenly I am going over it. 6 story buildings are easy. Right now I am more successful in leaving the missile in bore sight mode and flying the plane to aim it but that loses what I think would be one of the main benefits of the maverick. Any techniques you have found work would be much appreciated.
Harker Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Before I got the Deltasim slew upgrade (you should still place an order, it always takes a couple of months to ship for everyone and it's worth it). I used to have the TDC Depress also bound to a button on my stick, so I could more easily slew with the mini-stick on the throttle, without having to keep it depressed at the same time. I was using the realistic TDC option. You should fly straight and level, ideally, but as long as you keep the TDC depressed, the missile will remain space-stabilized. Start aiming from beyond the missile's range, so that you have time. Alternatively, you can disable the realistic TDC option though the Special Options tab for the F-18 and it won't require TDC depress to slew the seeker, so it'll behave like the A-10C or the Harrier, more or less. Harlikwin Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 Yeah a "general" rule for DCS is if you have issues with the TDC depress on any throttle just bind it to a different button. Or expand the deadzone for the TDC slew. New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. donkeyrider Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 auto pilot and auto throttle is another give you more bandwidth to locate and lock the target. I don't think this is done in real life but if it helps then go for it.
