Zulu111 Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 (edited) I currently have DCS Stable installed. I want to make a copy of this code so that I can run a second build along side DCS Stable. I get that I can make a copy of the main DCS application folder and I get that I can make a copy of the Saved Games\DCS folder, where the settings & configurations are found, but what do I have to update so that my new copy of the DCS application folder points to my new Saved Games\DCS folder? Thank you in advance for any help. Edited December 20, 2019 by Pilot905
Rudel_chw Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 Use a dcs_variant.txt file in the root directory of the installed simulator, this file is processed by both executable DCS.exe and dcs_updater.exe. The file should contain only the name of the User directory, which is then preceded by DCS through a period, for example: test The User directory will be as follows: c: \ Users \% USERNAME% \ Saved Games \ DCS.test (spaces in the dcs_variant.txt file are ignored, so the name of the form 'test 15' will be converted to the recording directory c: \ Users \% USERNAME% \ Saved Games \ DCS.test15) For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB

How do I get my new copy of the DCS application code to point to DCS.test in your example?
Rudel_chw Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 Thanks for the information. How do I get my new copy of the DCS application code to point to DCS.test in your example? You create a dcs_variant.txt file and place it on your new dcs copy. Inside the file is the text "test", and that’s all.
