X56 Zoom in/out with SCROLL

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Recently I was tuning my setup of X56 Saitech/Logitech to be as useful as possible. I would like to use SCROLL wheel (on far left throttle), right now I use K1 button for it (Num * and Num /)

But every turn of scroll cause key press / key release events immediately it works nicely with Weapon system mode selector (LAlt+F and LCtrl+F), but with slow zoom in/out when you have to hold button to do action, SCROLL is just to quick...

I try few settings suggested by froogle in great

but can not force SCROLL to hold the button.

I try use Rotary 1 and 2 but soon I move out of center it zoom in or out till the and of scale and later on it gets crazy never settle down always sent Num * or Num / in any position.

Can't you make a "macro" with :

Press Num*, Delay 32ms, Release Num* for exemple? And then adjust the delay duration to your liking?

If not I already helped someone else to do adjust a virtual axis using that scroll wheel. We did that with Joystick Gremlin. Let me know if you're ok to use another program and I'll take some screenshot to show how to set what you want in Gremlin.

Because you use a Scroll wheel, you can not control how long the input is, the pulsation is very short and so there is no really repetition. To force a longer "hold" we can tick the Macro box. This way the macro will execute fully even if the button have been released.

That's how I understand it, can't test I don't have Saitek/Logitech hotas.

Edit : I think you can delete everything in the press and release line. It shouldn't change anything, but it would be cleaner, to my eyes at least x)

yes, I saw manual but I didn't get it what it means, but you are correct just single press will trigger whole sequence.

And yes 3rd line isn't necessary.

Once again thx

Hi,

Using it for zoom (emulating the mouse wheel) is FANTASTIC. Just go into the HUD software and assign the mouse wheel to the silver wheel. Then, in DCS, it should automatically do your zoom for you. I actually returned my Warthog Throttle to get the X-56 for nearly this feature alone. So much better than the slider on the Warthog or any button assignment when it comes to zoom... especially in a WVR fight.

Hmmm... nice idea bur few question:

1. how set silver wheel as mouse wheel

2. I can't assign mouse wheel (I believe MOUSE_Z) in DCS to zoom it working only for external view

I don't use the come-with software, I do everything through DCS. I go to axis commands and scroll down to the bottom select Zoom View and double click and rotate the silver rotary switch and you're done.
