Hi,

By using a conversion you should be able to tune VORs using the TACAN, but this doesn't seem to work in the -17.

e.g. VOR frequency = 113.60.

1136 - 1050 = Channel 86X.

The JF-17 is not better than the F-16; it's different. It's how you fly that counts.

I don't own the JF-17, so this answer will be "generic VOR/TACAN"

That's not how VOR/TACAN works. They are different pieces of equipment, with different signals, and different methods of operation. Just because the cockpit indications are very similar does not make them equal. There is no "conversion" between them. You will often find both devices in the same location (called a VOR+TACAN=VORTAC) and military TACAN can support civilian DME users, but that's it.

I wasn't precise in my post, but you said it right here.

It doesn't work. I get nothing.
