Hippo Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 (edited) I have been trying to create a mission that places a player in an F18 just about to commence the descent for a case III approach. The aircraft is supposedly in the hold and about to reach the IAF at 25 nm, angels 10 and commence its descent. I am looking for the mission to start with the aircraft configured so that: TACAN set 27X, with CRS 159 for final bearing set, displayed in AMPCD and RMDI, HSI page. ILS CH 11 set and selected on HSI and displayed on HUD Some checklist items e.g. hook down. Some other minor MDI / AMPCD configuration. The attached mission does what is required, but man, it took several hours of extremely tedious trial and error for me to get there. I have used triggers of the type: X: COCKPIT PERFORM CLICKABLE ACTION (DEVICE, COMMAND, VALUE, "") to accomplish this. Some of this works as I would expect, but some of the UFC buttons seem to require delays for them to register, meaning it takes nearly 10 seconds for the aircraft to be configured. I was hoping that someone who (unlike me) knows what they're doing in the mission editor could kindly take a look at the attached mission and tell me if there's an easier, more elegant way to do this. Thanks.Case III Test.miz Edited January 8, 2020 by Hippo System spec: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D @ stock, MSI GeForce RTX 5090 Ventus 3X OC 32 GB DDR7, Gigabyte X870 Gaming X, Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB EXPO (2 x 16GB) DDR5 5300MHz C30, Samsung 980 EVO 500 GB NVME M.2 SSD (system drive), WD Black SN 850X 2TB NVME M.2 SSD (games drive), Thermalright Assassin Spirit 120 Evo Cooler, Asus XG43UQ Monitor, Oculus Quest Pro, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, Thrustmaster Pendular Rudder
Rudel_chw Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 ... tell me if there's an easier, more elegant way to do this. May I suggest an alternative approach: Start with the aircraft in Active Pause, and then guide the pilot step by step trough the aircraft praparation using messages and controls highlighting .. the way a tutorial would do. You can active pause with a trigger X:Set Command 816. For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
Hippo Posted January 8, 2020 Author Posted January 8, 2020 (edited) Active Pause :) You and your active pause ;) again! ;) Although I used a very specific example, what I am trying to achieve is to have the aircraft appear in a state that the pilot has supposedly already configured previously, not to take the pilot through it. Your very useful suggestion is appreciated though, and I'll be sure to try it out in other missions.
