ApacheDoctor Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Hey guys, I really hate to be the guy to do this, but I have noticed a bug pop up the last two days. I have been following the prescribed start sequence for getting the jet fired up. 1. Ground Power on 2. Bat/AC/DC switches on 3. APD Switches on (COM 1, 2, WWMDI L, WMMDI R) 4. Eng Start Pump on (can hear it whirring) 5. Engine Start Switch to start 6. Throttle unlocked to Idle 7. EPD 1 Page up Left MMDI 8. Press and hold engine ground start button... And nothing. Ever since I purchased the module I have not had the issue. I have swapped jets in the same server. I first noticed this issue over at Red Storm Rising-and swapped into different roles. Same issue repeated. I also tried this over at DDCS, and the same thing occurred there. I tried using the Auto Start sequence, and same thing-it went through the sequence but the engine never start. I uninstalled the module, and reinstalled. Did 2 separate repairs, same issue repeats itself. I went through the DCS Saved Games, deleting the FXO files, MetaShaders2, and Multiplayer Track files, and thence repaired DCS again, no joy. I am completely stumped on what to do, and I have been following the start procedure to a T. I have spent close to almost 3 hours to get this fixed and its frustrating to no get out. I have participated in a DCS Beta before (actual Alpha/Beta testing), and thus very good at troubleshooting and isolating issues. As you can see above, I have been unable to isolate this issue. I am also a real world rated ATP/Airline Pilot and a former military aircraft mechanic-I have a very solid background in aircraft systems. I would appreciate any guidance. Again, I hate to be the guy who has to post this (as you have been relatively bug free!), but nonetheless turning to you for assistance. Thank you for your time and assistance.
shaHeen-1 Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 I have noticed that sometimes my autostart fails :/ but it's not very frequent. I thought I had somehow used up the batteries by turning on too many systems too quickly.
ApacheDoctor Posted January 12, 2020 Author Posted January 12, 2020 Usually with a battery its constantly doing a recharge via the DC system. Only thing to really worry about is burning the starter motor out. I dont have the JF-17 manual, but I am sure there is some form of starter duty cycle limitations (if there is, I wonder if they are modelled). That said, its a complete failure to start. The engine won't even crank.
shaHeen-1 Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 In these cases I just turn on ground power and startup works fine then.
foxwxl Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Press & hold the ground start button, until the "START" illuminate on the up right status lights panel. Deka Ironwork Tester Team
Terrorban Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 I don’t even request for ground power. The better should already be charged for a first startup on a freshly spawned jet. At least it works like that since launch. ApacheDoctor Posted January 12, 2020 Author Posted January 12, 2020 Press & hold the ground start button, until the "START" illuminate on the up right status lights panel. Well aware of the procedure. Perhaps you havent read the full post. I have tried it with, and without ground power. I have tried manual start and autostart, and neither work.
Terrorban Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Well aware of the procedure. Perhaps you havent read the full post. I have tried it with, and without ground power. I have tried manual start and autostart, and neither work. Does it happen randomly at times when you try startup or are you permanently grounded at all times with dead engine? ApacheDoctor Posted January 13, 2020 Author Posted January 13, 2020 Its a permanent thing, Terrorban. Was working fine until three nights ago and now its been having issues galore. Windows update happened, but I don t think that would have broken the code on this one. Been frustrating trying to fight and fly with my guys but I have been having engine issues.
shaHeen-1 Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 That's quite strange. I'll keep an eye out for this one.
