I know there are some people here that really know there stuff and I was wondering if any modders can tell me how I can edit a file in LO 1.12B that will make AWACS talk only when requested manually #/F5/F1 if possible, I'm getting very frustrated at AWACS and I'd like AWACS to just vector me to the nearest bandit when requested manually.

If this is not possible can you just tell me please.

Thanks in advance.

Think it's written in the game code, so no editing available.

My adwice is use some audio editing software, speed up audio files of AWACS and it will speak faster, so it'll answer also faster.

Thanks for the replies guys, FV MAD I posted about the AWACS sometime ago in general section but had no responce. I think your idea is good but I'm thinking of replacing the callsigns and other .ogg sound files with blank 0.1 second samples.

I can cut the whole AWACS conversation down to just "bandits 011 for 034 high flanking" which will be much faster than "control vector to next bandit Uzi 11 bandits bearing 011 for 034 angels high flanking" or "Pop up 011 for 034", I estimate this would cut the time by easily half the time.

One question were can I locate the sound files for the AWACS and Eagle pilot?, Am I right in presuming that the sound files for US AWACS and the Eagle pilot are in Sounds>US version? Also will I have to edit the sound files for the Russian AWACS too for when I'm on red side flying Eagle using russian AWACS for vectors?.

Please confirm location so I can build my fix because AWACS is beyond a joke and is very dangerous sometimes, one time I timed AWACS talking constantly for 4.12 Mins (yes I timed it) but the MP server was very busy.

I need paracetemol to fly the Eagle.

Thanks for the reply to my question FV MAD, I'm going to get started on building this tonight, I will use Goldwave to replace alot of the .ogg sound files with 0.1 second dummy samples. If I get this to work well, I will give you a copy for helping me.

I have finished buiding the sound files for my mod which are exact replicas of the originals in file name and format which is vorbis .ogg 44100 MHZ 4Q 86KBPS Mono, BUT when I drop these exact replica sound files into SOUNDS/ENGLISH VERSION/USA/AWACS I cant get LOFC to play them? Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong?, it's as though LOFC doesn't know these files are in the SOUNDS/AWACS libary!, is there a batch file I have to execute to force LOFC to use them?, so for now I have modded the original sound files that were in the AWACS folder and these play fine!?, my mod makes the whole AWACS "vector to nearest bandit" process much quicker! the whole AWACS conversation is now just the very basic information which is all you need IMO, this MOD now makes US AWACS say "bandit 014 for 028 high hot" and "pop up 014 for 028 low flanking", there are no callsigns, optional pilots voice, also "Angels" is gone, "Bandits bearing" has been cut and edited to just say "Bandit", "Pop up group bearing" has also been cut and edited to just say "Pop up", also when AWACS says for example "UZI 11 bullets merged" AWACS now just says "Merged" this mod has cut the AWACS conversation by 2/3 rds of the time easily! and is ALOT more pleasing on the ears and sounds totally natural.., I'm very pleased at how natural I got this mod to sound.

I just need to know how to "activate" the new sound files that are a complete name, size and file extension replica of the original sound files that I placed into SOUNDS/ENGLISH VERSION/USA/AWACS folder!, I'm sure this process is done by a batch file...need help plz.

Yenerci I can batch covert the .ogg files to .wav if they play quicker no problem, takes a couple of seconds to do.

.wav will decompress fractions of a second quicker than .ogg files will, so this is definatley a good idea.

Diveplane when I put the new sound files into the AWACS folder how can I get LOFC to play them?.

I know for 100% sure that the newly built sound files are EXACTLY the same as the originals (Vorbis .OGG 44100 MHZ 4Q 86 KBPS MONO) but LOFC fails to recognise them when I've copied and pasted them into the AWACS folder!!, there must be a batch file to instruct LOFC to play the new file, I have tried to run both the batch files that are included in the AWACS folder but neither of these work!, do you know were the batch file exsist's in LO directory?, Please someone help because I dont want to have to edit the original sound files everytime I do a fresh instal.

if you use the exact same name down to the upper or lower case and convert them to wav.. should work..

I'v tried this with .wav and .ogg and LOFC failed to play these files, the modded sound file names and upper/lower case are identical to the orignals..

Well...maybe not. The "Mono" part is right, anyway. According to my sound editor, the default files are 22050Hz, 32 bit, Mono. (EDIT START:: Yours are 44100, 16, mono) ::EDIT END.) Here are your files converted (in OGG format) and they play just fine: AWACS-Ironhand.zip. LOMAC/FC is very finicky about file format.

BTW, about half the files in the ZIP you uploaded are 1KB trash (all of the CALLNAME files and ONEONE.wav). I downloaded the ZIP file several times with the same result. I simply used the default files for those in AWACS-Ironhand.zip.
